If you want a game where you mostly just crash cars and see how they crumple..then BeamNG for sure.
I play both, and enjoy both for different reasons. I have way more fun with Assetto Corsa, because I like racing.
Beam might be better getting into if you have gamepad, while AC feels more natural if you have a wheel. But both can be run with either controller.
Both games have tons of mods but AC depends a bit more on them. AC starts to shine after you get few QoL / graphics mods, while Beam has a bit smoother first time player experiance.
If you want to race or drift, AC does it better still. While Beam has a deal with Automation game where you can build own cars from scratch to use in Beam (in AC you need to be a modder to do it).
