Try it for 2 hours and return if you don't like.

Controller is doable, but not everyone can enjoy it that way. You will most likely want to tweak the default settings to make it more to your liking.

No one else can say if you will like it that way.

as a mouse user myself, I've put so many hours into the game before, yes, it's definitely worth it.

Not everyone has money or space for a wheel. So that isn't always an option.

That said, I still use my Driving Force GT, it's been a trusty companion. I got it for GT5 on the PS3 many, many years ago. Though I'd be nervous getting a used one at this point.

Unfortunately, as fine as Assetto Corsa is, it's a hassle to play it with a controller. Each car, each track, you will have to tweak settings to have a half decent experience. I remember creating elaborate notes for settings when I used to play it with my controller. It's not worth it, it takes the joy away from the game. Many will say it is doable, and that may be, but it is not enjoyable.

For a controller player, the Forza, F1, Dirt games, and Wreckfest play much better.

No. Just plain and simple, no. I used to play it on controller, and it was a pain to drift with. I upgraded to a Logitech G29 a month ago and my god the difference. Would recommend buying a wheel, waiting for AC to go on sale again and then buying it.

^ This

I tried it for a week with a controller but realized pretty soon I would either have to get a wheel or just not play, it wasn't fun for me with a controller. Also got the G29 wheel and it's a game changer going from controller to wheel

Well no luck if you're a VR freak
The VR mode for this game requires the use of a gamepad or a keyboard and mouse.
from the store page.
Tl:dr: yes.

I started with a controller, and did some onlineracing in a group with a controller, i'ts entirely playable. You WILL need to make adjustments to steering and throttle/brake response, and have soem extra finesse on steering but yes, you can play.

If You love cars then the answer is simple, buy it. Especially now when it's super cheap.

I've only been playing a little bit, but I've been playing racing games and sims my entire life, always with a controller. I'd say AC handles a controller about as well as any other racing game I've played. I don't have a lot of "hardcore" sim experience, so my lap times are modest. But if you're going into it for the thrill of it and the love of cars and racing, I'd say it's definitely worth it, especially on sale.

You're going to want to do some modding to get the full value out of AC btw

Steam has adjustments for controller ALOT of settings , but once you know what to adjust its fine

It's like IL-2:BoS, people go on about 'you need a proper HOTAS', you don't. It can be flown right down to a KB&M. I've been seriously into flight sims -mil sims- for well over 25 years and the last 7years playing casually.
It's more about ego, than facts. The game can be played as you wish -just as the dev's quote.
F-1 can have as many aids on as you wish. That's the beauty of the PC, that they have to cater for everyone if they want sales. once you've played it with help, then you may or may not buy a full HOTAS or Wheel setup. That's your future choice. But it doesn't cost you a lot of money to find out.

I'd say just buy it, that way you'll have it in your account forever. If you don't like it with controller you could always pick up a cheap wheel setup somewhere down the road. Or dont. I cant control you :steamhappy:

i played this game for 60 to 80 hours with an xbox controller, u can definetly enjoy the game after tweaking the controler , but i advise you to buy a cheap logitech (dfgt,g25,g27) it is worth it imo
