2) make sure you have a backup of the assetto folder that was in documents
3) restoring the documents folder you moved might be tricky... i'd restart the PC, move the CONTENTS of documetns folder you moved to the one created by windows automatically upon restart, (if there is none, forget AC for a moment and google this specific problem)
4) you can try moving the saved AC folder back to now working documents folder.
5) If it does not work correctly, remove the AC documents folder and let the game re-create it.
6) Run Ac, it will most likely be wiped of progress/settings, then you can try mearging the new AC folder with the old one to gain some stuff back.
Anyways, always remember to do backups when doing things like that. Doublecheck any decision and if things start going bad stop and start writing whats happening step by step into a text file so you or anyone that will end up helping you have easy time reversing the damage.
But my main issue is
1. its stuck on the lotus car which i can't change
2. Its stuck on a specific track which i can't change
Then re-install AC from scratch but not to the default steam location, instead either install it to a different drive, or a different directory, like C:\Assetto corsa.
Then run the game vanilla without adding any mods or CM or anything, just start and see if you can get in to a race with any cars/tracks
If it still has issues, then either the documents folder destination got messed up or there is leftovers of old AC in the registry that got messed up.
ps: i dont think installing AC to different library (different drive) would help as Fret suggests. At least it *should* not make any difference. If it does, that woud mean you did a poor cleanup job :P.
But in theory they should not cause the 1car1track bug.
Over the years it was rare but reoccuring issue caused by many different hiccups related to OS, you can google it up, or join AC forums and search there, you will get more info than here.
Also in theory the issue is that AC is prevented from accessing the documents, so you can google non AC related issues like that and possibly find a solution, because its likely something broken on the OS side rather than AC.
