A strange glitch that is stopping me from playing with any Post-Processing
So I have a strange issue which I can't seem to find solutions for so I thought what the hell, I'll just leave it here since this forum has helped me before.

I only play AC in VR and this problem only happens in VR, not when playing on a flat screen. The game runs perfectly with PP off in content manager. When it's just me hotlapping alone on any track the game runs locked at 120fps in VR which is amazing. But whenever I turn on PP so I can used PPfilters like Sol, Natural mod, A3PP, etc, I encounter a problem which prett much makes the game unplayable.

Whenever I turn on PP, out of all the cars in the game, only 2 cars have their windshield wipers sticking out really strangely in VR. Even the pixels seem strange like they are not part of the game but completely black, no textures at all. They're pretty distracting. The BMW E30 M3 Drift and the Ferrari 458 GT2 have this issue and no other cars from what I've seen.

I've tried turning the wipers on, speed up, down, etc, and as soon as they are turned off and stopping wiping, they go back to the same exact strange position sticking out in an unusual manner and being a very annoying distraction when driving in both first person and 3rd, making both cars unusable and not only unusable, it makes it annoying to have others playing these 2 models because their weird wonky wipers become an eye sore for the person behind because again it's just black empty pixels that seem like a glitch and not part of the game

Again, this weird wiper issue only happens when PP is turned on. When PP is off, the whole game works perfectly as intended in VR. I can't even take any screen shots of the issue because when playing in VR the problem doesn't show on my monitor, where the recording takes place, but the problem is only visible from the VR headset. Strange I know. Everything is up to date, AC, Oculus, Nvidia graphics, etc.

I appreciate any help with this head scratcher!!

Hmmmm that's typically a CSP issue but there are slight differences in what you are describing compared to what I've seen before. What version CSP are you running out curiosity?

BTW I tried both those cars and had no issue. Running CSP 1.74, Sol 2.1.3, Natural Mod filter 7.3.

Running CSP 0.1.76-preview136 and Sol 2.2, but the problem existed before even with older versions of CSP/Sol.

I have a feeling it probably has something to do with the VR side of things because I see the problem in my Quest2 headset, but if I peek at my monitor at the very same moment, it's showing the game just fine on my flat screen, so it's only a VR thing. It's just odd that it only happens to the E30 drift and the 458 GT2, two of my most liked and used cars! lol

Sorry I forgot to mention I use VR as well. I just tried again with the same CSP version as you and still no issue whatsoever. It could possibly be a config someone has created that might have caused the bug.

Seems you're not alone.

Claims of it affecting all VR users, but I just tried both cars again in VR with both public and patreon versions of CSP and neither car had an issue. User Gevatter's suggestion of deleting the config is worthy of investigating.

Thanks bandit, yeah it's definitely a weird glitch. I had a look at the thread you linked and tried the suggestions and editing/removing the two config files for the cars and it made no difference.

It's not a deal breaker for me since I have another little incentive to play with PP off anyway. Whenever I play in VR with PP off, I get up to 120fps on my QUest2 wirelessly, which is pretty amazing. Then whenever I turn PP on, the game seems to be locked to 60FPS. I know this exact reduction by 50% isn't due to the PP effects like some filters and different lighting. There would be varience, not a direct drop from 120 to 60. I can't see anything in the settings that would limit the game to 60fps with PP on, Vsync and frame limit options are all off, and if I click on the "!" to the right of PP options in CM, it does a quick calculation and tells me that PP will reduce AC performance by around 0.53%, another indicator that the 120fps>60fps drop seems odd.

Anyway, that in conjunction with the weird floating wipers on two of my most used cars just means PP is a feature saved just for screenshotting unfortunately. Hopefully a future update can fix these issues

That drop you’re seeing in FPS is reprojection. If your hardware can’t supply a stable 120fps or thereabouts then your HMD will drop to half frame rate to try to maintain a smooth experience. Luckily for me my Vive Pro has a native 90hz so I only need to maintain 90fps so with my setup I can run PP filters without the drop. Ideally you want to run post processing as things like brake lights are much dimmer with it off.

There are ways of helping that situation out, reflections and shadows are two of the biggest consumers of gpu power. For example with recent versions of CSP you only need to run a render rate of two faces per frame for reflections instead of previously running 5-6. This will lower the load on your gpu for no visual loss.

I'm actually very curious now as to why I'm not seeing this issue. I wonder if it's only an oculus mode issue, a gfx card issue or a setting in game.

Believe it or not, that's the MAIN reason why I want to even use PP lol. I don't really care about the different variations of lighting and effects that we get from using PP filters, it's mainly because the dashboard and exterior lights of cars appear so dim without PP, almost to the point where I can't tell if the car lights are on or off in some models.

But alas, the wiper issue alone will keep be away from PP for the time being. Dim car lights is something I'll just have to deal with until I can find a fix to this. I'll take dim lights over those crazy floating wipers which just throw me out of the immersion of the game.

:steamfacepalm:

Not sure if you are a member of this discord or not, but it's the AC CSP & CM discord and there is a VR specific channel. Here is a link to the group, you may have some luck there.

It’s still an issue with versions of CSP higher than 1.74.

We’ve been doing some more investigating into this issue. Can you tell me what gfx card you are using please?
onearmedbandit 5 MAR 2022 a las 3:44 p. m.
I went through your posts and saw you are using a 1080ti. We’ve managed to isolate (with reasonable confidence) the bug to 900 and 1000 series Nvidia cards. 2000 and 3000 series do not have the bug. I’ll keep you updated as I find out more.
