VR + Wheel?
I've recently gotten interested in driving sims, specifically through VR. I was wondering, for a "beginner", does it sound like a bad idea for me to get a driving wheel and play this game in vr?
I've never been the best at driving games, but driving with a wheel in vr sounds really fun.

I recently made the same decision. Around a month ago I just got bored of Forza, and wanted to try a proper SIM where the car spins out if I drive bad and punishes my mistakes so I can become a better driver and race driver and a month later I have a Quest 2 wireless VR headset, A logitech G29 wheel and pedals, and a copy of AC and RF2. All in all the hardware and games cost me around $600 and it's worth every cent. My mind has been blown by the amount of fun and immersion there is to be had with a wheel and VR. It's not even comparable to playing on a flat screen with a gamepad, not even close.

I say go for it, if you love cars and enjoy racing, you won't regret it.

its a divine experience! !!! you don't need to break the clocks, just enjoy the rides ! I also run it with an OQ2, AC is meant to be driven with a wheel, shifter, pedals, handbrake ! GO ahead !

Really appreciate the answer - If you don't mind me asking, is there freeroam in the game as well, and if yes, is it playable with friends?

Yes I believe so. My friends don't play AC but I think you can join freeroam servers together, maps like Shutoko, Pacific Coast Highway, L.A. Canyons, etc, or you can start your own server and your friends can join you.

One of the best things about AC is that it's extremely easy to get online

yes fully open also with friends is thebest ! Along with the maps above, you can try Fonteny, Felderberg, Tokyo R246, Highforce, and many others!

I've had a few wheels and have not regretted buying them and I don't even have VR to go with it, which I would get if I could afford it.

VR is perfect for driving simulators, flight simulators and any kind of vehicular simulator because you are already sitting at your desk like a cockpit. I have no idea why so much focus has been put into walking games for VR.

While I agree VR is better suited to simulators (just an opinion), 98% of my VR time is sims, we need as many titles as possible being developed so the customer base increases making hardware and software developers more motivated to keep investing.
