New player: Trying to play the RSS Formula Hybrid with an xbox controller. Tips?
I know, I'm scum, but I kept hearing about how this is so much more realistic than F1 2020 so I wanted to give it a try. I've installed AC, the content manager, and the hybrid 2021 car. Loaded up the 360 controller profile, at first the steering seems to be too sensitive to I turned down the sensitivity a bit. Anybody else have some experience in this area that might be able to help me? Also what's the diff between steering sensitivity and speed sensitivity? Thanks!

"Scum" ? What ?? I play the F1 mod in Assetto Corsa regularly and it is a LOT better than the F1 games for many reasons, one of them being that AC has VR support, while F1 still doesn't.

Watch this and also read the comments.

Play games wherever, however you see fit and in the best way YOU enjoy it ! Gamepad support is in these games for a reason.

It will be haaard, F1 reqires quite a bit of precision in steering and pedalwork. To get the car more managable try the pedal assists app (cant remember actual name but it allows changing pad settings while driving).

AFAIR steering sensitivity is maximum speed the wheel will move, Speed sensitivity means how much the MAX steering angle will be reduced with increased speed - quite important to get that one just right for each track.

Steering is difficult but remember to focus on pedalwork too. If done correctly you can reduce the need for steering a lot by pedals. Also make sure you are not fighting the electric systems like recovery or power.

ps: On wheel AC F1 cars can be a bit easier to drive than F1 2020 even. For pad it will probably the opposite due to lack of assists. "More realistic" does not necesery mean harder here, the car is more planted in AC than codies F1 and all of the issues come down to control and settings. So If you keep at it, i'll probably click at some point.

I found some good pad settings online and I'm actually getting around the track about as fast as I did back in F1 2020. I was already used to playing on pad with no assists in F1 it's actually pretty similar. One thing that's definitely different is that AC makes it hard to turn at high speed whereas its easier in F1. Also what do you mean the car is more planted in AC vs. F1?

Yeeting over stuff, drifting and other dynamic stuff like changing direction.

In general AC physics can simulate siffer suspensions and more detailed ground effects, so combined with laser scanned tracks, car is basically glued to the ground. If you manage to jump and/or slide settling down takes miliseconds after all tyres are gripping the ground. Most extreame example would be to compare doing standing 180 in both sims. But also over kerbs, which in F1 2020 are pretty flat, while here can be more like ramps that you can still survive due to how good the suspension and aero of F1 car is.

As for turning at high speed, idk, im on wheel. I guess it will have to be compromise on the pad with steering speed sensitivity and rear wing.

Im not sure if it was possible to disable all assists on pad in F1 2020. Especially the steering angle assist that AC lacks, so make sure you are turning enough, but not too much (around 60-90deg of virtual steering wheel as i recall).

I also played RSS Formula Hybrid 2017 ~ 2021 + X 2022 with Xbox One Controller.

With this setting, I have no issue with driving on RSS Formula Hybrid (and other cars as well!)

Speed Sensitivity: 40%
Steering Speed: 50%
Steering Gamma: 180%
Steering Filter: 70%
Steering Deadzone: 5%

Optional: Stability Control 1% ~ 40%

And playing with Controller is not a scum. Some people are just too sensitive. In fact, Assetto Corsa is "Your racing simulator". So, please play with how you want.:awoo:

Sounds like my first issue. The issue you're experiencing seems to be steering return. As you get faster, turn up the speed on your steering settings until you think you have the "return to center" down. A really good circuit to mess with this is Mugello as the turns are pretty wide and flowing (plus, come on, Arrabbiata 1 and 2? Too fun...)
