At this point, acs.exe hanging is an annoyance, but I do have a workaround...
I remember when i had a issue certain cars would not work with newer versions of the shaders patch and it would cause ace.exe hang ups and i would need to hit shift - enter key to free it up.Just trying to give some ideas to help.
It's done it since day 1. I don't see anything in the logs that even hints at what's going on when I exit a session. Annoying and I can get around it, but it sure would be nice to not have to "get around" it.

Done. TBH, I'm not a big fan of Discord. It's hard to find responses to your posts...
pressing play in the list or (there might be a rightclick involved first in the list) make a "new" play game in the box to the right (its picture of a car, i think those two point to two different start-ups one being that acs and the other to whatever its named (they should do same thing, but seems not to for some ppl, or have you tried to start it thru AMD or NVIDIA controlpanel?
Have you verified the gamefiles?
I ofcourse take for granted you run the basic game no mods no nothing.
Doesn't matter if I start through Steam front-end or Content Manager. How do you launch anything from the nVidia control panel?
Yes, I have verified gamefiles, updated all the .NET stuff, VC runtimes, etc...
Make sure you configure any such security software to allow ACS.EXE (and all of the other .exe's that AC has) to run, even if you have to configure a security exception on the entire AC folder. Might also have to allow the game full Internet access because it does access the Internet even if you're not doing multiplayer.
If you're on Windows 10, the OS might have automatically configured security on your "Assetto Corsa" folder in your Documents folder. You can Google how to check for and correct this kind of Win10 security and access control nonsense.
Also make sure OneDrive has not grabbed hold of your Assetto Corsa folder or sub-folders. It can cause a major mess for you if it gets its claws into your AC stuff. You can Google how to deal with this also.
Turn off, disable, or uninstall OneDrive[support.microsoft.com]
on TOO dirty sites...
What i meant about Nvidia was just a little thing came to mind, maybe its not same
but i think you have it to.
I have amd and in the "control center" (or what f they call it) i call it unessecary crap.
I somehow made a profile for AC in there and its possible to start from there
(though iu guess they pick up same files, but stranger things have happened
As I mentioned above, I've updated/repaired all the VC Runtime and .NET stuff too.
