How to setup controller?

I just got this game and i dont have a wheel so im playing with a controller. How can I setup my controller so i can play the game with it? I tried looking up on google but all i found is setup for controller sensitivity not how to get the controller to work

Does Steam recognized your controller? In my case PS5 wireless controller I have to switch it on before launching Steam.

does steam have to recognized my controller? i usually use ds4windows to use my controller to play games

idk but nothing work, i cant use my controller or keyboard either. I try using my controller wiht a different game on steam and it work,

I suppose you've guessed by now that you didn't google correctly, as there are tons of guides in simracing websites like racedepartment.com. Easier still, with step by step video on youtube.
Anyway, my advice is not to waste time on those - race simulations are not designed to be used with joysticks and you'll never have a decent feel of the cars nor a minimum realistic approach to reality, wich translates into the main goal: to have fun.
Buy yourself a steering wheel and start from there. You can thank me later! ;-)

Not everyone can afford a steering wheel setup, your comment is not helpfull at all. I suggest not commenting these types of comments on discussions so you dont waste peoples time.

1. Enable Steam Controller Input
2. Select The Recommended Game Controller Layout (Game Library Settings)
3. In-game under Controls Select Xbox360/Controller
4. Go To Practice Run (Select Gamer Tab Mode for testing)
5. Click Start Engine Button
6. Game will load and Steam should load the correct config
7. Enjoy

this worked for my luna controller, it might work on yours

In case it didnt work well download Content manager, deactivate grafics extensions that you dont need (it may consume some fps 3-5), go to gamepad FX and activate this extension, a button to change between race and drift mode is asigned for default.

my ps5 controller works on all other games in steam, but doesn't work for Assetto. i tried many layouts but all to no avail. only get mouse cursor response when i held on to the PS5 button and move my left stick.. nothing else works... please, anyone can help? without needing to use ds4 software. TIA!!!
