There's no lift off oversteer, Thus the reason why it's hard to drift.

In Initial D, they are actually racing & not making a drift show. When trailbraking hard(steer at the same time while holding the brake pressure), the car technically should oversteer naturally at high speed with abs.

The simpliest way is to use the handbrake to initial the slide in the videogame.

I've sim-drifted for years on live for speed and ac, it's not hard to drift without the handbrake on ac, you can easily drift maps with braking drifts or shift locks (essentially extreme weight transfer using downshifts and the brake), but you'll definitely need to use it on close tandems cause the lift-off oversteer is very minimal. Look up the drift bible on Youtube, it's a must watch, and practise with the e30 drift with 900 degrees before using any realistic mods.

EDIT: Imo the DW mod cars are by far the most realistic ones.
