Private multiplayer possible?

Is there a way to have a race with a friend, with bots for the rest of the cars?

Can I set up a dedicated server using the Steam app, and have the same computer running the game itself to join it? Then give my friend the details of the server so he can join from elsewhere?

Am I going to need to understand port forwarding and the like (which I don't!)?

Things may have changed. and I hope they have, but we found that to be impossible to do in AC. Although we all prefer AC for single player and content, we moved to the F1 Series and Project Cars to get our vintage F1 multiplayer needs met.

I will monitor this to see if anyone has found a way to do it...would love to run F! 1967 with friends and bots

I did a bit more research myself, and even set up a dedicated server - couldn't find any options to allow AI cars. I think I'll be doing the same as you - moving across to PC2 for the multiplayer side of things.

Yes, you can host your own server to private play with your friends, take a look on Content Manager (this app will change your life), its fairly easy to setup and host a private server in just seconds, and there's a lot of vids on youtube if u need help.

another option, also an easy one, its with https://worldsimseries.com/, just create an account and create a community event, and thats it.
