Mods are they really safe?

I am new to this but today I downloaded so many skins for many cars I want to know whether doing all this will affect AC i.e whether it can cause game to crash or will it make my game laggy or will cause other serious issues plz restrict your answers to skin related issues..Bec I will not try installing other mods only skins for now.

The only thing I have ever found is:
The mod stops the game loading, you get sent back to the main options screen.
Car mods get outdated and lose their sounds.
CPU usage at 99% warning on some mod tracks with lots of cars.

I've never had the game be laggy, although I could see that happening with some 4k skins, I am lucky to have a powerful PC though, so I may just not get those issues.

After a lot of mod installing and messing around I've found now that really there are only a certain amount of really, really good mods out there.

So now I mainly run official content and a few cars and tracks that are good quality, I use racedepartment mainly and filter the results by highest rating / most downloads.

Ok thanks Jim I have also download these skins from race department I'm asking this because I think if a game makes provisions for workshops n mods then they should be safe to use Bec Dev themselves giving us options to do modding.

I've found stuff on racedept to be cool, if you dig deeper on the web there are all kinds of mods using assets ripped off other games etc, I never even bother downloading stuff like that.
When I first got into mods I must have downloaded a hundred cars, but over time realised many weren't great or straight up broken.
Even those just stopped the game loading, they never did any harm as such.
These days I am much more picky and honestly happier with what I have.

If you look at the work places like RSS - http://racesimstudio.com/ put into their mods it's easy to see why they are so good, the physics, feedback and of course modelling are all amazing.
So my advice would be to play it safe, grab four or five fantastic mods rather than a hundred of varying quality.

If you have issue with the track loading or crash or the game crash for whater reason you simply need to peek on the log files in the documents folder.

***:\Users\****\Documents\Assetto Corsa\logs

my assetto corsa folder is like 100 gb, i dont have ssd or anything, the only problem you may have like i do is the game takes a bit longer to start but nothing else ;)

You can download safely from racedepartamen and drivingitalia

They have high quality cars and tracks and are the official place for mod since kunoz closed the carmod section on the official forum and redirect all the top modders there

I'm member in a AC online racing community. They offer a large amount of maps, cars and mods, all approved by the community. They also offer an automatic updater for all the hosted stuff, so one is always ready to go.
