So, is this a good alternative for Initial D Arcade/PS2/PS3 games?
I don't have a steering wheel yet, but i plan on buying the good old Logitech Driving Force GT, i suppose there are some mode to get that eurobeat and drifting going on? I still have the Initial D Extreme Stage for my PS3. But the lack of a wheel is a bit of a problem, how would this controll with a DualShock 4 before i get my Wheel?

No.

This is a racing sim, it is designed to be realistic, if you're looking for a simple arcade game, you're not going to find it here, if you're looking for realism, you will find it here.
Leave the arcade and become a real driver, learn to drift or powerslide and you can have more fun doing it like a pro

You have the official japanese pack with plenty of cars
The name of the game contains "Arcade" because it was released on arcades platform first, with only a few ports to the PSP/PS2/DreamCast and PS3. It does have a balanced gravity and physics, but if focuses more on drifting. Now i don't mind if this game isn't exactly that. Initial D is 1 vs 1 racing and drifting. The controls are a bit too sensitive for the gamepad, but with a wheel it's pure joy. And it's not a simple press the pedal and go. It has so much highly advanced functions when it comes to drifting and it is faster than most games.

That said, i will probably get the full edition of this, I heard there are mods and the base game is equally great. I mean, if i get a steering wheel, why not go for this too. This one looks like the only racing game that is interesting. I browsed a bunch of them on steam, and none look as good as this.
If you're going to get that wheel & pedals, AC will be nice realistic simulation also for drifting. The game has Japanese Car Pack as DLC, which probably could be good DLC to buy if you're up to it (and want that AE86 ). Also there are multiple pretty high quality community made maps and car packs, as example Ebisu Touge, Gunsai Touge, good old Mt. Akina and so on, the list is lengthy. For car packs my friend recommended me SDC car pack & SP Mod -car pack for starters, and I've had lots of fun even with only that pretty minimal amount of content.
There are some servers who host only drifting maps, including those example tracks written above so drifting and driving even in tandem isn't that rare if you're into that. :ChipJoy:

I can't say for sure how difficult and/or realistic are those console Initial D Arcades compared to AC, but I'd guess you would totally enjoy your time with Assetto Corsa's world of drift as well as racing on normal tracks also.
This game is nothing like Initial D. I have Extreme stage and love it but it's nothing like this game when it comes to handling, physics etc. I've also tried this game with a 360 controller and it's awful. Wait until you get a wheel but don't expect anything close to Initial D if you decide to get this.
AC is a simulator, it's very punishing and has a high difficulty learning curve. AC is a really great game, but dont forget most of these reviews are from the point of view of sim racing fans, real life track drivers etc.

For sure though if you got the skills and the patience you can drift like a king.
Alright, thanks. Is there a "complete" version of the game, as in, everything that has been released so far under one pack? There is the Base Game + Dream Packs, then Season Pass, and then separate releases.

I want everything in a single bundle.

So you buy what interests you, since each car is tuned differently? I bought the game + dream pack + japanese pack. If i really, really like it, i might buy some of the others from time to time, especially on sale. Still have to get a steering wheel, however.
Oh man, Initial D on PS3 was sooo much fun! Loved that game. Unfortunately there's really nothing like that on PC that I know of anyway.
Yeah, it isn't. But i tried the game on practice and drift (With a Gamepad + Japanese Pack) and it's good. I also tried against AI, and it didn't super well. However i really suck when it comes to racing, less so with drifting. I just have to wait for my wheel to arrive. So far i am liking this, even tho it has a super steep learning curve and a really clunky menu that can't be navigated via the gameplad, plus a hidden menu when racing on the right side and whatnot. I also haven't found any basic tutorials. But i guess practice makes perfect, it will take me a long time to get it right.

I've seen people posting RL drifting tutorials so maybe start there when you get the wheel

While it's not a drifting tutorial, you will learn alot from the series of videos. I think there are 9 in all and well worth your time.
I watched tons of them. Both for the game and IRL. Thanks for more input. I have to wait for my wheel to arrive. It should be here in a few days or so. Playing with a controller is pure hell, so i didn't want to continue till i get a proper device input to experience pure joy.
I can suggest u to play gta 5m you have drift servers and a lot of cars and its awesome i play it on keyboard or controler, if u have gta 5 on steam try it out its realy enjoyable to just drift without wheel sometimes late at night
