Curious about your VR performance
Hey guys,

I got my index just under a week ago and would love to play this game but like all my games, im having trouble running them with a half decent fps. Im dropping alot of frames with my cpu. I get around 70-80fps with a resolution of 114%, I do have all the graphical candy on but the game still looks blurry and I feel to actually be happy with the game it would need 250-350% resolution. Im also getting a trail behind movement, like im playing on a monitor which has terrible refresh rate. Mine is set to 90. Is this me just expecting to much or am I really not getting performance I should be getting

9900k and 1080

i am on a rift cv1,with a 1070ti,i7 4970k cpu. run the game at ss 1.4. with 15 cars on grid it mainly {90%} at 90fps. so with your set up you should be able to do better. there are some killer fps settings in game..try looking at some youtube videos
for your set up.

Make sure to turn off all motion blur effects and depth of field and avoid AA or FXAA and use SS

i7 9700
32gb ram
RTX2080
HTC Vive Pro
Constant 90fps with grids of 22 cars (generally don't go higher, have run mid 30 grids before)

I don't use any SS as it blurs the image and is a huge drain on fps. Recommended settings are to turn SS off. Yes you get 'screen door effect' but you learn to ignore it. Racing on the 'ring is a beautiful thing with the right settings for example.

I've used this guide to fine tune my settings and have no need to change from this. Make sure you have Content Manager, Sol and Custom Shaders Patch 0.1.46. (www.racedepartment.com)

(yes the menu layout has changed a little but just hunt through your menus, you'll find it. And ignore the Samsung mention, as I say this works perfectly on my Vive Pro and will do the same on your Index. Honestly give it a try, I'm sure you'll be impressed)

EDIT: whoa just realized this OP is ancient.

With your CPU/GPU I think you should be able to do 90 by tweaking a few things. I have an 8700K/1080TI and can lock my Reverb at 90.

Have you used FPSVR to evaluate your actual framerate? Once you know this we can say more about specific settings. Generally supersampling and AA are the big GFX card loads. I would prefer SS over AA. Also make sure your 1080 is set to "Prefer max performance" in the NVIDIA control panel.

Hi, I wanted to ask you about content manager and if you know what the Payed version contains that the free one does not, and if you think it is worth it for vr

I don't use any of the extra features you get with the paid version but I still bought it in appreciation of the work the creator has done. It makes no difference with VR but it's just better fullstop.

Thanks and sorry for necro, even tho i don't see what the big deal is about this necro stuff. I am pretty sure some populer user made it up one day and it just stuck

nice guide ref there onearmbandit. am going to adjust to it with my oclus rift and highend system before upgrading to the odyssey +...hoping I won't have to do that as im pretty happy with the oculus and it may very well be easier to run the odyssey + at its 40% more resolution.

try raceroom for VR. It is the most immersive. It's free to try. I have mines setup 250% ss and settings autoadjusted in the menu. I also tweaked it for a way sharper and vivid experience.

Assetto Corsa has no VR menu. VR kicks in after you launch. Its alright.

I like to turn off the g-force effects and not have view set to the horizon...but these are more personal preferences I guess.
With my CV1 I just use the virtual desktop when I am in VR, to mess with content manager and launch my session...I have a button mapped to the 're-center view in VR' option but joy2Key can come in handy for some more obscure settings or macros in-game.
I also found that with the mapped button to re-center if I hold it down and look through the nose gap in the headset to see where center of my real wheel is and just align the virtual wheel center as best you can (whilst holding the button down)...use the onboard settings app to fine tune if needed...but thats just me being anal I guess lol.

EDIT - Oh, I also like to lean back a bit when I re-center..I just find it gives me a more natural position when I then sit normally.
