PLEASE HELP ME GET MY OCULUS RIFT WORKING ON AC
HI guys, I've been trying for around 3-4 hours now to get my Oculus rift to work on Assetto Corsa. Whatever forums, settings I choose, I just can't get it working.

- The game appears like a cinema screen (basically not in 360 degrees) which makes me questions why I got it, as I might as well just continue to look at my monitor...
> This then leads to me not being able to look around in the game...

Whatever Forum I read they're all changing settings I can't access, e.g. Oculus not in the system tray to extend the display, my rift not appearing as another monitor and whatever settings they change in the game, doesn't do anything for me.

Please please please, someone just help me out and get this working, otherwise it's just a waste of 400 pounds...

First, make sure you disable any overlays, injectors, shaders or anything else that might put an overlay on your game- I found that this can cause AC to not launch in VR correctly but simply be displayed on a plane in Oculus Home.

Second, ensure you are using Oculus Rift mode from the video settings in AC, untick vsync and try to untick or tick fullscreen mode.

In Oculus Home, disable the ability to pull-out windows and make sure when you load AC that you do not have the Oculus Dash up in VR, close it so you are just standing in your space, then go to your desktop, run AC and then launch to track- it should now load into the headset and not into a Window inside VR.

Sorry man, your whole paragraph sort of confused me, i'm not a big PC guy so a lot of the stuff you're mentioning don't mean much...

1. Where do I disable any overlays etc?
2. I tried unticking it from full screen and it didn't do anythign different...
3. I couldn't find anywhere to disabe the ability to pull out windows...
4. When I launch AC, I put my headset on and i'm looking at the oculus home through my headset. I then click Virtual Desktop which I can then see the game. This just appears like it would if I was looking at my monitor, it doesn't make it 360...

I followed the setup on the oculus, just nothing is working to get it going...

1: Assume you have added non if you don't know them.
2: Okay, ignore that.
3: Its in the Home settings, probably under experimental
4: Don't bring up the virtual desktop in Oculus Home in VR, close the dash system, do not preview the desktop and load AC from your desktop, config a race, then as you hit start to load into the track, as it loads, now put in the Rift- it should display in Rift correctly.

If you have the virtual desktop open in Oculus Home VR or the Dash system, it will load AC onto a virtual window instead of inside the headset.

I forgot to add: Assetto Corsa does not have VR menus, the launcher where you config AC and start your race is always on your desktop monitor and you should load AC via the desktop as normal and only put Rift on when you are loading to the track- it only appears in VR once you are on the track.

I'll give this a go, thank you! Should I close oculus home, then start the game up, start [practice and as I'm about to get in the car, put the headset on?

No, you can't close Oculus Home. I am talking about the Dash system and the Virtual Desktop view inside Oculus Home- you need Oculus Home desktop software running but you do not want to have the Dash system open in the Virtual Home inside Oculus software in Rift- you must close the dash or desktop preview inside this Virtual Home, press the Home button on the right hand controller to close it all.

Then remove your Rift, Oculus Home is still running as it should be but the Rift should be off. Load AC, load to track ensuring you have Oculus Rift selected in the video drop down menu, when it loads to the track, now put on Rift- it should now be loaded correctly and fill your whole view.

When on track, you need to use your mouse (yeh its a pain in the ass ) to move the large yellow dot cursor to the upper left to exit pits or exit the menu and start racing.

Gotcha. Well you got it working for me, so thank you! Do you know if I can improve the quality at all? Sometimes can't make out the corners up a head, even on a flat track like silverstone...

Yup, you can supersample AC for Rift.
Go to your AC install folder.
Go to cfg folder.
Open Oculus.ini with notepad and change the line PIXEL_PER_DISPLAY=1.0 to a higher number, around 1.5 is the most you should go before diminishing returns kick in- save and close.

Now the game will be supersmpling but at a large cost to your GPU.
