Why no hot hatches?
Before anyone bites me face off because I may have asked something stupid I admit I'm not massively endeared by these fast monster elite cars. Is there a reason there are no hot hatches like the Honda Civic and the Ford Focus and the Renault Clio et al?

Focus ST would be awesome and the new Golf R.

Unfortunately only mods can satisfy your needs for those... Seconded on wanting the Ford Focus (or better Ford Fiesta) or Honda Civic though!

Audi S1, Alfa Giulietta, Abarth 500, Alfa MiTo, what are those?

Because AC is based on racing cars and sports/supercars. FWD is useless on a track, and is understeer central. It's just not fun.

Hot hatches. There are more popular hot hatches, such as the Golf GTI and R, Focus RS, Civic Type R, etc.

I don't know where he lives but here in the US we only get 1 out of those 4, the Abarth.

Yup. The game has hot hatches, that they aren't the ones you want isn't the same as there not being any. Also, I didn't know a car not being available in your territory means you can't drive it in a game.

Thanks fellas. Yes all those are what I was meaning.

MicroKORGI - I'm sure you are correct but I would like to see them because I like driving them. They are available in other games.

I'm in the UK. Alright then, I meant the ones that aren't in the game like the ones posted above :-)

I'd suggest trying this mod, you might change your mind on that. One of the most fun cars there is for AC imo, mod or official. https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/seat-leon-tcr-2018.20109/

R3E just got the entire WTCR grid, if AC was still in active development that's exactly the kind of cars the devs should be doing.

I have been looking at R3E today and the new content. Thanks for the link, I'd forgotten all about Racedepartment as I haven't played my racing sims for a good while :steamfacepalm:

Not what I was implying. I was just saying the the more popular hot hatches here aren't featured. He says he's from the UK, I'm not sure what's available there. I know the 3 I mentioned above (GTI, R, RS, Type R) are available there.

It's just physics. You have wheels that are trying to steer, drive the car, and maintain grip through corners. Something's gotta give. There's not enough grip for everything to work all the time, and you just end up disappointed at entry/exit speeds.

Side argument appears with no correlation to the thread! We were talking about hot hatches in AC, now we're talking about physics.

He was giving his opinion on a hot hatch mod for the game. With more powerful FWD cars, I agree with him.

I agree. Obviously that's why we don't see FWD cars much past 300 hp. The front wheels can't steer and put down all of that power all at once.

It's not a tangent. It's referencing how in real life they're not as fun to drive, so in a sim it should follow suit. Unless you're gonna be the one to bring up what seems to be the ultimate taboo here- that AC is a bit of a simcade in its physics.

I've driven hot hatches and they're fun, took a Focus ST on a track and enjoyed myself.
