thanks, i can't even complete 1/4 of the track with her...
love the beast, but i'm always screwing the gearbox up...
i'm playing it on automatic clutch, the issue is that i dont give enough safe rpm when i'm gearing down and puff xD
...Then slow down more before you drop a gear. If that is not possible just stay in the gear you're in. All verisons of the F40 make enough torque that you don't need to be frantically changing gears.
i feell the torque is not enough, that's why i do it.
also from 0 start it's a bit lazy, only above reaching 70 or 80km/h goes fast!
I don't normally drive the F40 especially the S3 as I find it requires such a deliberate hand that it is not fun. With that out of the way I took a couple laps around Leguna Seca, which is a power track, and I don't find the transmission overly sensitive (I use an H pattern with a clutch BTW). That being said the car has a 5 speed trans instead of a 6 or 7 speed so the space between gears is larger meaning you have to slow down more than an equivalent 6 or 7 speed car before changing down...just like I said.
As for torque, that car makes 715Nm at 4,000 rpm and maintains above 600Nm until about 7,000. It has lots of torque, which is good because the gears are pretty wide. At Leguna I was mostly in 2nd and 3rd touching on 4th here and there. There is no need to go down to first. 4,000 rpm in 2nd equates to roughly 40-50mph. With 715Nm, you have more than enough to pull out of slow turns in 2nd.
So in conclusion, slow down more before dropping a gear and use the torque of the engine to your advantage. Just like I said before.
There's no problem with the car, but it definitely has a preference in how it is driven.
