This game or Grid Autosport?
I have $15 on my account and I was wondering how these two games compare. Which one would you recommend and why?

I have Grid Autosport, and it's fun... but... It's enjoyment shelf life is shorter IMHO. AC has more tracks, cars. and is more challenging (it's a sim, not arcade). Plus there are tons of third party cars, tracks, and mods you can download.

Also, Grid Autosport online multiplayer is pretty much dead (a few here and there)... AC is not (lots of servers and people to race with).

AC added benefit, great community!

If you have a wheel, get AC for sure.

But with only a controller you will have more fun with Grid

GRID is better if you just have a gamepad. It controls much better with a gamepad, and is easier to play.

Assetto Corsa is more of a hardcore sim. Not very good with a gamepad, i would really only recommend it if you have a steering wheel and pedals.

This.

Although the most difficult one to master is GRID 2.

Note: I have 70% of the achievement completed in Assetto Corsa.

This. Assetto Corsa physics, handling, FFB, car setups, laserscanned tracks, the driving experience and feel as a whole, is from a different universe compared to Grid. You need a steering wheel to get the most out of it though. I played Grid a few years ago and it's a decent arcade racer, but after playing AC witha steering wheel there's just no going back to games like that.

I only have a controller sadly. I've been trying to snag a wheel off of craigslist for around $50 for a while now. I think I may pick up autosport then since I only have a steam and xbox controller.

well best option for you is to buy both of them.play 1hr of grid and 1hr of AC then choose which game you like most.btw i would recomend you AC coz it have 4k players atm and grid have 500

I like them both, Autosport is more of a fleshed out 'game' imo and AC a sim.
I was looking at Autosports Steam forum oddly yesterday and. well, go check out the busy threads there, it's strangely a hot bed of drama about online cheating, I've never seen anything like it lol

Nope. For someone who has (apparently) little or no experience with sim racing games, AC is NOT a game where you can just jump into and start playing. It takes quite a lot of time to learn the basics of the game, get your settings right and so on. The "buy it and refund it if you don't like it" thing works fine with some games, but not with the kind that require time to get really started

The closest games I have played to sim racers are probably Dirt Rally and Project Cars. How does this compare to those? I personally found Project Cars pretty horrible with a controller so it was pretty much unplayable on xbox.

I'm leanin more towards GRID since my favorite racing series of all time is PGR.

For those unsure about going all-out simulation (which this is), I often recommend checking out the good-old liveforspeed demo-content. It is free as in free beer. You have the option to use mouse-steer and/or ffb-wheels and whatever input-device you care to configure in the setup-menu. For mouse-steer I recommend setting pointer-movement acceleration to OFF in your Windows/OS-settings.

The real party-trick is the forces-visualisation-option in real-time or in single-player replays. default for that is the (F) on your keyboard. There you will see how the weight shifts around and the grip-levels of the tyres are used. Now imagine similarly-detailed (if not generations-better) physics-code and much more polished graphics. Welcome to any worthy sim of today (inlcuding Assett Corsa, rFactor2, Automobilista, iRacing...)
For that you should go to
www.lfs.net

The real problem concerning controller-users is the question of how each sim handles controller-inputs. A.C. offers large amounts of signal-tuning-options, essentially curves, limiters and deadzones galore for you to modulate your individual inputs. That does not tell you how you would personally experience the game with your preferences to pad-use, but it tells you: this has been built as a hard-core sim. Cars expect realistic driving-technique in order to be driven competently ("finessed") around a track. If you manage that technique with a pad, everything is golden. If you are not inclined to practice technique, a gamepad-centric "crossbread quasi-sim" designed around gamepads might just be the better choice.

If you like PGR I'd go for Grid Autosport, it shares much more in common than Assetto does :)

If they're each on sale, get both.
