One car so much faster than others

In every single race one driver is way ahead of all the other cars, why is this? Its not realistic, it should be more even, im always just competing against 1 other driver

Last race I had 23 cars were faster than me but that is a different issue. It is not easy to get the right mix in AC and I even seek out car pack mods that have been matched up properly BOP wise. You should be able to add ballast weight or restrict air to the cars that are faster in your case to slow it down to go with the rest of the field. I use Content Manager and you can tweak individual AI strength, ballast and restrictor to perfection and save it for future races.

Bear in mind that the car in the lead doesn't have all the other numpties to deal with so he gets a clear run...you are not going to break any land speed records whilst sat behind a bunch of AI...I guess this is where qualifying becomes important.

Yeah that's the AI. If watch F1 it's kind of realistic lol.

sadly the AI has never been worth a damn in this game ! ... I often wonder if the problem lies with Devs who are not able to drive real cars ?

I just realized that its not about who crosses the finish first, but about laptimes. Isnt that right? I crossed the finishline and went from 4th to 3rd place even though i didnt pass any car

Be patient. Perfomances of your car improved after each lap. Some adjusting can be also useful, like, reducing suspension height.

Then why did i go from 4th to 3rd place (in bottom overview) just after crossing the line (not during last lap) even though i didnt pass any car? And in the bottom you can see how many seconds slower the other drivers are than the first place, it looks to be the total time from all laps. This is in career mode

If the AI go off track they teleport to the pits and retire, they don't rejoin the race, might be why.

That doesnt really check out, if that was the reason, the 2nd car would also go fast as the car ahead doesnt interfere with his driving at all.

Just so we're on the same page here, im talking about a huge difference, the 2nd car is often 14 seconds behind.. Is that normal?

Got some proper answers elsewhere. The 3rd place mightve been in pit, and "The bottom of the screen updates after each lap only, based on crossing the line first, not lap time."
