Forced Auto Clutch
Hi everyone, I've got a problem with the clutch mechanics in the game and I hope someone might be able to help me. It seems as if automatic clutch is forced on when I start driving. I always make sure to disable the automatic clutch before I start a session, but when I drive I'm still able to shift without using the clutch. I have the thrustmaste tmx pro steering wheel with throttle, brakes and clutch and a thrustmaster TH8A shifter and they all work perfectly fine. I can see that the game recognises the clutch, however the fact that the clutch is actually there is completely ignored when I drive. Does anybody know how I can solve this issue?

Go into the control settings and make sure it's disabled there.

Also drive a car that has a clutch, even when correctly mapped and auto clutch off, the clutch will only work with cars that have a manual clutch.

That's probably your issue. In Assetto Corsa you can only use manual for cars that are actually manual.

I drove the abarth 595 ss, which has a manual clutch I believe, but still I'm able to shifter without using the clutch

When I use the clutch while also giving throttle the revs shoot up. So the problem isn't that the clutch doesn't work, just that I'm able to shift without actually using the clutch as if automatic clutch is turned on, which it isn't.

The Abarth 595 ss works fine with the clutch and shifter (TMX Pro with TH8A shifter). In Content Manager I have both Automatic Shift and Automatic Clutch off. Can't recall what is available in default AC settings tab but assume the same.

I can change up and down gears without using the clutch if the revs are right. Obviously going from 4th to 3rd or 2nd with clutch out while a little too ambitious rev/speed wise leaves some metal at the bottom of the gearbox as it should and shows the damage.

Do you have mechanical damage turned off? I don;t know if it would make a difference or not.

Is there maybe a way to completely delete auto clutch from the game? Something like deleting certain values within the root folders.

YourDrive:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\cfg look for the assists.ini and try change the Auto Clutch from 1 to 0 and see if that knocks it out.

I don't know the answer because I haven't had the issue.

this seemed to help. I first opened the assists file inside the cfg folder and changed auto clutch from 1 to 0, but it didnt work yet. So in the same file I changed damage from 0 to 1, which seemed to work. When I tested the game the clutch worked as it's supposed to. When i restarted the game it showed me an error, however the clutch problem is still fixed. Thanks for the support all!

I was going to ask if you had damage at 0 because if you do that, you can indeed shift in manual shift cars without using the clutch and it will go into gear.

If you have damage on, the gear will not go in without pressing down the clutch and will simply grind and damage the transmission, eventually breaking it until it no longer goes in gear with or without using the clutch pedal.

No The Husky. The only updates you will see in AC is from the modding community. ACC is still being developed, improved and bug fixed by Kunos.
