After attempting to open AC classic.
- In documents>assetto corsa>logs>(scroll down) look for "launcher" open the txt file see if there are any clues regarding your cars.
It will also point out any issues with json files etc for installed content and devices you had no idea had a problem.
Anyways, did you install CM in the root of AC? Because otherwise, from what I know, CM shouldn't interfere with the default install of AC. That's why it asks you to install in a separate directory.
It sounds more like you have some sort of bad mod installed. I would re-verify all your files using Steam Properties.
I am examining the log.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/244210/Assetto_Corsa/
po ponownym uruchomieniu komputera wyskoczyła aktualizacja zawartości.
Mam tam "wskaż folder główny Assetto Corsa" i "Twój identyfikator Steam dla online" na dole zainstalować zalecane wtyczki i wyskakuje okno ups! Nie można zainstalować wtyczki:
Plik „C: \ Users \ Piter \ AppData \ Local \ AcTools Content Manager \ Plugins \ Magick-7.0.4-x86 \ Magick.NET-Q8-x86.Native.dll” już istnieje.
i drugie okno:
Nie można zainstalować wtyczki:
Plik „C: \ Users \ Piter \ AppData \ Local \ AcTools Content Manager \ Plugins \ Fann-x86 \ FANNCSharp.Double.dll” już istnieje.
Pomóż mi to naprawić:(
oh and my CM is in my root folder because when I wanted to use VR rift mode, a msg popped up saying it would be more stable to move CM to the root AC directory to avoid any issues, I clicked ok and had no issues with it being moved to the root dir so far.
go to accetto corsa installation folder and see if there are there two files: AssettoCorsa.exe and AssettoCorsa_original.exe. in case both exist, rename the AssettoCorsa.exe to something like AssettoCorsa_ContentManager.exe (or any other name you want)
then rename the AssettoCorsa_original.exe to AssettoCorsa.exe
in case you have only AssettoCorsa_original.exe then just remame this to AssettoCorsa.exe
i think your problem is in the "game starter" setting in content manager (you can find this in "Settings -> Content Manager -> Drive).
by default this is set to "appID" (the best option IMO) but MAYBE that is what causes your problem. to see what all options do and chose the one you like, click on the ? in the "game starter" button.
here are all options
This part is very important. Please, read it.
Since Steam version of AC can’t be started only by running acs.exe, CM has to use some weird ways to do the trick. At the moment there are six strange ways to start the game (apart from direct starting by Naive Starter). All of them had their flaws, that’s why you have to select one which suits you.
Also, please, don’t forget to backup original executables before using starters which replace them, such as AC Service or Tricky Starter. CM will make its own backups, but there are so many things which might go wrong with them… So, just to be sure.
• Official Starter
Created after Kunos added official support for custom launchers.
+ Steam-friendly: Steam overlay & archievments will work without any problems;
+ Official: according to Kunos, should be the best way to run the game;
+ Safe: doesn’t mess with AssettoCorsa.exe or other game files;
− Slow: use original laucher, which isn’t very fast;
− Unreliable: sometimes just stops working;
− Incompatible: can’t be used when original launcher is running.
• AppID Starter (new)
Funny thing: after all those attempts to find the best way to run the race, it turned out all I have to do is to put “steam_appid.txt” with AC’s Steam ID to AC folder. Thanks to @Zkirtaem for the idea.
+ Steam-friendly: Steam overlay & archievments will work without any problems;
+ Fastest: launches race immediately (but takes some time to run Steam if it’s not running);
+ Safe: doesn’t mess with AssettoCorsa.exe or other game files;
+ Compatible: can be used when original launcher is running;
+ Laconic: minimizes amount of extra entries;
+ Functional: allows to get Special Challenges progress when Steam profile is private.
• AC Service
Replaces original launcher with a small service. Service runs in background (with icon in system tray), consumes about 10 MB of memory and can immediately start race or original launcher (via context menu or special protocol). In my opinion, this is the best way, but it needs testing.
+ Most Steam-friendly: Steam overlay & achievements will work without any problems, usage time counts as usual;
+ Fastest: if service is already running, launches race immediately;
+ Safe: even though it replaces AssettoCorsa.exe (and renames it to AssettoCorsa_original.exe), original launcher still can be easily started via icon in tray — and also, default behavior of that service is to run AssettoCorsa_original.exe, so, it’s likely you won’t even notice that replacement;
+ Compatible: can be used when original launcher is running;
+ Functional: allows to get Special Challenges progress when Steam profile is private.
• Steam (aka Replacement)
Replaces original launcher with CM itself. To enable it, just open AC root folder, rename AssettoCorsa.exe to AssettoCorsa_original.exe and then put there CM named as AssettoCorsa.exe.
+ Most Steam-friendly: Steam overlay & achievements will work without any problems, usage time counts as usual;
+ Fastest: launches race immediately;
+ Safe: all replacements are done by you, so, CM won’t mess up anything;
+ Compatible: can launch original launcher (new link will be added in title links);
+ Functional: allows to get Special Challenges progress when Steam profile is private;
+ Laconic: minimizes amount of extra entries;
− Update-incompatible: if Steam will update original launcher, CM will be replaced back.
• UI Module
Starts the game through small UI module (module will be installed and enabled automatically).
+ Most Steam-friendly: Steam overlay & archievments will work without any problems, usage time will be an actual CM usage time;
+ Fast: game will be runned in about one second;
+ Safe: doesn’t mess with AssettoCorsa.exe, only adds its harmless UI module;
+ Compatible: can be used when original launcher is running;
+ Functional: allows to get Special Challenges proress when Steam profile is private;
+ Tested: it appears, it works fine;
− Memory consuming: that original launcher, based on Chromium, can take quite a lot of RAM;
− Slow-starting: requires original launcher to be starter first.
• Tricky Starter
First one added. Uses pretty weird approach, which requires to temporary remove AssettoCorsa.exe out of the way. On the bright side, this is the only change it does. So:
+ Steam-friendly: Steam overlay & archievments will work without any problems;
+ Fast: although its weirdness, works faster than Official Starter;
+ Tested: firstly was implemented in Cars Manager;
− Unreliable: using approach could be blocked in any AC update;
− Tricky: sadly, doesn’t work without Internet connection;
− Incompatible: can’t be used when original launcher is running;
− Unsafe: if CM will suddenly get killed, you’ll have to restore AssettoCorsa.exe from AssettoCorsa_backup.exe manually.
• SSE Starter
Questionable solution. Basically, it runs AC without Steam. So:
+ Compatible: doesn’t mess with AssettoCorsa.exe at all, can work even if it’s runned;
+ Fast: launches race almost immediately;
− Steam-unfriendly: doesn’t save archievments & challenges progress;
− Obsoletable: you can miss some updates for AC using it;
− Questionable: since 1.6, it requires acs.exe and acs_x86.exe to be patched (don’t worry, patched versions won’t replace original ones, but will be placed nearby).
• Naive Starter
CM just starts acs.exe (or acs_x86.exe), everything else depends on AC version you use. If you’re using original Steam version — won’t work at all.
• Developer Starter
Doesn’t run acs.exe expecting you to run it manually, only prepares race.ini and waits for race_out.json to change. Also, by the way, you can use pre-race event command to create your own starter this way.
hope this helps. good luck
Edit: If something needs to be fixed, let me know. I have time on my hands since I'm unemployed.
