It does need practice in any case.
Even if you have experience in real cars there's need to relearn things since you can't feel weight shifting and inertia behind a computer screen.
But i can tell you its totally worth it, its so rewarding when you get it right and tandem drifting up the transfagarasan mountian road (mod) with some random dude in a public server is the second greatest gaming moment of my life (30+ years)
best tip i can give is keep practicing it will come. a bit yoda and annoying i know but there it is.
as for proper tips? make sure you have enough forward momentum to carry you all the way round the corner, yes you enter corners much slower than when racing but still fast enough to make sure the back end doesnt catch you up half way round.
another tip that did help me, try and concentrate on having your drift angle so your rear wheels are not only sliding sideways but are still pushing you forward, if that makes sense?
oh and you are doing it with traction control turned off right? i believe a couple of drift cars have TC turned on by default.
i've had everything turned off, no assists since the start.
thanks for your insight, i guess im just trying too hard.
i used to be able to do drifts that satisfied me, now i feel like im the worst driver in the world.
but i guess i just have to suck it up and practice.
ive had it on 900 since i started, many people said to wait, but i did it anyway.
i dont think it matters too much. but ill try
Go to the drift circuit, there is a circle in the middle that is perfect for starters.
Personally, I think M3 E90 is easy to start.
Start turning like you are used to, reach the limit of the turn (when you start to lose the turn), at this point you will start to increase the thrust, you will start to lose the back of the car, keep the thrust and countersteer to correct the car, at this point you shouldnt be drifting, just doing some "slides", the main point is to get used to a "uncontrolled" car.
Lose traction, try to get traction again, repeat until you are confortable with it.
Then increase the amount of thrust gradually, repeat.
At some point, the wheel will be centered and the car will turn for itself, repeat.
Then increase the thrust again, the wheel will be a bit countersteered, repeat.
Then more, more and more.
You will be drifting soon. :D
Good luck.
it lose grip when i need it, as soon as i need it.
i get grip when i want to lose it, when ever i need to lose it.
this is seriouly thr most annoying thing ive ever tried.
im starting to give up more often.
Drift is exactly this: Pass the limit of grip.
Oh, you should try street tires too, I prefer semislicks, but most of people playing uses street.
do i even need throttle for some drifts? im doing a combo on this turn and i almost do it even time, but i keep gripping up when i need to throttle so i can leave the corner.
you can try to control the turn just on the gas, trying to maintain the wheel centered.
And try more throttle ;)
One question, are you on "drift mode" inside AC?
i use practice mode.
i might just record myself drifting and send it to the thread so people can judge my horrible drifts
