why are mods so bad ?

I expected tons of new cars and tracks with mods, but I was dissapointed.
I downloaded about 20 car mods from sites like assetto corsa club and assetto-db.
And only maybe 2 or 3 of these cars are actually good.
Most of the Cars either won't load at all, don't have any sounds, have absolutely terrible sound, only have sounds in cockpit view or have graphical issues.
The Cars you get from Mods rarely reach the level of quality the that the cars in the DLC have.
It's not that I just chose mods that have bad qualityon the sites I mentioned, in fact most of them had good ratings.
I thought the Mods would really make this game superior to Project cars, but now I see PC is actually better in every single aspect except for sound.

Is it actually normal, that all these cars mods are so bad ?

lots of illegal rips from other games on most mod sites, racedepartment is a good resource for quality mods, questionable mods get marked down and removed pretty quickly

The rips tend to have generic physics applied, but people who build their mods from scratch tend to spend more time on the physics side of things

Sound issues could be due to the FMOD implementation in AC being updated recently, quite an easy fix to update by the creator but creators of these forza/nfs rips tend to not bother updating their stuff.

I've come across very few cars that match the quality of the DLC. Most modders aren't willing to devote the time to put out a quality product that can match the Kunos DLC. Although there are a few exceptions that are quite stunning. I prefer quality over quanity. Pick a few cars you like, learn a few tracks to within milimeters of every turns apex then settle in and enjoy!

I'll try racedepartment, I really hope the sound issues are because of the update.
I'm not sure about the physics I only play on a game pad, driving feels easier and smoother in assetto imo.
I think i expected too much from mods, I really thought they were gonna be about as good as the cars from the devs

Many mods have yet to be updated since the last AC update. Check the comments in the links I provided to see if anyone has reported any issues.

Any car mods prior to the 25th of October FMOD patch will not work, so make sure you check the date of mods before downloading.

but I fear you will only have cockpit sound for the moment since the last ac update broke some stuff. Patch from modder is already announced. Just a matter of time.
In my opinion they did a great job on the wrc cars.

there is even more out there but you have to search for it. As it has been said there are a lot of cheap rips out there as well. Maybe this helps

just checked racedepartment, I personally don't like most of the cars they have there and I already have the few ones that I like, gonna be sticking with assetto-db and assettocorsa club.
They have some nice BMWs and more roadcars.

I hope the mod developers update their cars quickly

and most of them don't bother with customising physics, just stick a generic cars physics underneath so they'll all handle the same just look different

You'll be waiting a long time for most of the ones on those sites to be updated, most are "fire and forget" with the "creator" quickly moving onto the next

And above mentioned is why I stick to mod tracks and a few apps.

The only app I'm using right now is Pitboard (with custom boards). There are lots of good tracks out there (VIR, Tor Poznan, Grobnik, Bridgehampton, Modena, Donington, Misano, Paul Ricard, Riverside, etc), check Racedepartment.com and filter for either downloads or rating (and read comments on those tracks).

And regarding pCars: to each their own, I prefer AC.

I saw a good one on assetto corsa club looked very good but I didn't test it.
But it's propably not updated to the newest version so you will propably have sound problems or it might not work at all
