Assetto Corsa

No Servers - Cannot retrieve List of Servers
Hi Steam community.

Clicking the online tab it shows "populating", then it eventually posts at the bottom the Cannot retrieve list of servers message.
Was trying to go online with my friend and my friend could see all the servers but I couldn't.

Stepwise testing - I have allowed all AC related .exes through the firewall, deleted the documents folder, checked my graphics settings and drivers updated as some suggest, reset the router, assigned a new IP, and even retried all this with a new install of Assetto, and retried again with a new install of Windows 10.

Don't know what's going on.

I was also trying to create a server but failed. I have forwarded the ports I need.

A month or so ago all of this was working fine, sp (was always fine) and mp.

The only clues I have is in the launcher log a line saying

"Cannot access main lobby server, trying fallback."

and the server log (for when I create a server) letter half of the log

"Registering to AC central server
CALLING http://93.57.10.21/lobby.ashx/register?name=Sitting+Ducks&port=9600&tcp_port=9600&max_clients=2&track=spa&cars=ks_abarth_595ss&timeofday=48&sessions=1&durations=5400&password=1&version=202&pickup=1&autoclutch=0&abs=1&tc=1&stability=0&legal_tyres=&fixed_setup=0&timed=0&extra=0&pit=0&inverted=0
Error Get http://93.57.10.21/lobby.ashx/register?name=Sitting+Ducks&port=9600&tcp_port=9600&max_clients=2&track=spa&cars=ks_abarth_595ss&timeofday=48&sessions=1&durations=5400&password=1&version=202&pickup=1&autoclutch=0&abs=1&tc=1&stability=0&legal_tyres=&fixed_setup=0&timed=0&extra=0&pit=0&inverted=0: dial tcp 93.57.10.21:80: connectex: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."

Any help would be very much appreciated. The fact that my friend and probably everyone else can play MP isolates it to my machine/setup but I am out of ideas to test.

Please help!

Thanks.

Sounds like there might still be some packet filtering going on. If you use a 3rd party firewall, check / make sure the windows one is off. If it's off, turn off the 3rd party too and test if that solves the problem.
Thank you for the prompt response. Turned off Windows Firewall and AVG. No serve list, nor can I set up a dedicated server.

Same behaviour unfortunately.
Do you have the possibility to log in your firewall traffic of assettocorsa.exe (even when it's allowed to have outgoing traffic)?
You also could try to see if reinstalling vcredist (Steam/steamapps/common/assettocorsa/_CommonRedist/vcredist and (re)install all packages (*.exe)) changes anything.

Not sure how to do the first bit 0 logging into a firewall to view traffic of ac.

I used the repair option for the vcredist to no avail x64 and x86 versions. Would you advise to unstall and then install again?
Reapiring should be enough in this case.

So you have usually AVG Antivirus only (not Security Suite) and Windows Firewall on? Nothing else?
not Security Suite - that doesn't come with AVG free as far as I understand. And you cannot have both firewalls on right? AVG is just antivirus, firewall settings are from windows. Nothing else. Fresh install on my Win10 machine.
Well, you can have multiple software firewalls on but you shouldn't. What happens if you connect to 93.57.10.21 with your browser?

I get, "This site can't be reached" in Chrome. Just tried it on my phone not using my internet and I get the AC pacge loading properly informing of the potential problems if I cannot see server list.

I am going to try tethering my pc to my phones internet and see if that works.
weird results, see if you can help me interpret.

PC connected to wifi 93.57.10.21 address doesn't work, Lobby cannot retrieve as mentioned
Using the Mobile phone on phone data, the address works using the chrome app on the phone itself.

PC tethering to phone data, address works and Lobbies are retrieved!

Turn phone data off, connect the phone to wifi.
Chrome on phone, address works. BUT address and lobbies fail on PC despite being tethered to the phone (on wifi instead of phone data).

must be something with the PC? the fact that I can access the address on the WIFI with my phone app points to that.

Next to try is to not use the wifi and pull a long LAN cable, directly plug it in. Will report back.

EDIT: Chrome on phone, address doesn't work! when connected to Wifi.

COuldn't find a lan cable long enough. But something that could be telling is that I just tried using my dads pc to access 93.57.10.21 and his pc couldn't connect to it either. Looks like a router setting may be messing something up?
Seems like it's the router indeed. I'm surprised though because "usually" retrieving data (server list) from one uri should work, just when the pinging of the servers begins, some router start blocking, kinda ddos prevention, some router even restart xD However you wrote that it worked a while. So what might be, is that the router denies everything connecting to the site, however you could connect with your phone through wifi, so possibly its (the router firewall rule) both pcs ((or) a certain ip range) is denied to access 93.57.10.21. There are a lot router out there but the easiest would be to make a rule on top of the firewall rules list with allow all to 93.57.10.21, in case you are presented a list with many rules in it.

Sorry for the confusion, I just added an edit, must of been typing a bit quick. But when the phone is connected onto the wifi, the URL doesnt work! So it has to be the router.

I logged into the router and I don't see anything about setting up firewall rules etc or any ip ranges blocked etc. I will do a factory reset on the router today and report back.

It's weird, all other games work. Just AC doesn't want to behave.
Factory reset the router. Nothing improved. I just don't why this would happen all of sudden. I used host games with my friend all the time...
What router is it?
Netgear CG3000V2 - from optus.
