Please make brake lights more obvious with post-processing disabled
In order to get good performance in VR I need to run with post-processing disabled. Unfortunately this makes brake lights impossible to see. I can still see the red starting lights above the start/finish line turn on and off very clearly, so maybe the brake lights can be made the same as the starting lights?

I agree. I also play without post processing and the brake lights are very dim and hard to see.

You can create your own PP file or download an Oculus Rift specific one from racedepartment.com that doesn't impact performance much in VR and allows you to see the brake lights with `glare` in VR much better.

I tried the natural graphics mod from race department, but it still hurt performance too much. It took me from almost always getting 90fps to spending a lot of time at 45fps. And other than the brake lights I didn't even notice the difference in visuals so it seems like a waste.

Which is why I said to use the Oculus specific ones floating around or make your own where you can turn off everything except glare from the lights for lower performance loss.

Natural graphics mod includes an Oculus specific filter and it's supposed to be very light on performance. The only other Oculus one I can find is below, but the author mentions there's still a big performance hit.

I can look into creating my own but I have a feeling that even with everything disabled it will still hurt performance.

I have the same problem, I don't use post-processing, not because of vr, but for perfomance and becasue I like more how looks the graphics without post-procesing . And for me is impossible to see the brake lights from more than 2 meters.

Also for me in the default post-processing brake lights are more visible than in natural, natural almost not enhance the lights.

But thats not the point, for me the post-processing should be something optional to see better graphics, but see brake lights for me is a basic not an optional.

Good that for see the signals of distance to trun is not needed to enable also the post-procesing, thats only kiding, but I hope my point is clear.

Note: at the moment of writing this i'm in version 1.15.1, but i think that problem come from long time ago.

I bit the bullet and turned on post-processing, and turned down other settings to compensate. I saw a developer post on the official forums that basically said it's the way the game is designed and it's not going to change.

Hey mate can I ask you which settings you changed to compensate for the brake lights? Cheers AussieStig

Mainly I disabled supersampling (put it back to 1.0). I just use 4x AA now. I think with no post-processing I was using 2x AA and 1.4 SS. It's a visual sacrifice unfortunately.

Yeah Kunos Simulazioni missed the ball.
The only light source AC can handle is the sun.
This is also why there is no night racing in AC using the cars headlights.
This is also why headlights and brake lights without PP only show up as red dots with no luminescence. PP just makes them easier to see due to the fake glow.
If only Kunos Simulazioni had coded a decent engine or paid someone to do it for them, this wouldnt be a problem.

OMG... The complaints..
My wheel still randomly gets rebound to any other input device at random when the game switches from practice/qualifying to race.
It has been like this since an update Kunos did in 2015.

No I will not unplug the other things, while this would work. Its not practical and all other games/sims I play are fine with other things plugged in.

AC v0.7 works fine. The current build still has the same problem for me 3 YEARS LATER.
Yes I have done bug reports and sent them in... 3 years ago.

Kunos appear to me to be more interested in adding DLC than fixing problems.

Also. Kunos Simulazioni have zero interest in reading this forum.. Are they too up their own selves to read any other forum than their own??? Other game devs happily read the Steam forums and answer critisms.

There you go fanboys/girls have a cry at it.
