Auto Clutch with H-Shifter not working???
I bought a H-Shifter yesterday, because of the feeling in old cars, but i'm not a hardcore sim maniac where every fart need to be as realistic as possible.
using clutch plus blip the gas while braking don't work for me. i can handle it while cruising, because i got a manual car in real live, but for virtual racing its too much for me.

I use in raceroom and Automobilista the H-Sifter combined with auto clutch. in both it works fine.
(Don't tried it in Rfactor 2 and Project Cars yet)

But in AC i always crash the transmission while downshifting with auto clutch enabled. Are they serious that using auto clutch with shifter only works in one way? the clutch pedal is not reacting with auto clutch enabled, but in the other way in don't work (auto clutching).

So I must rebuild my shifter every day 3 times to sequential only for AC and then back to H when i want to drive AMS or R3E?
This is to stupid for me, so i decided to turn of the mechanical damage for h-shifted cars in AC. Now i can bomb in the gears without clutching and smashing the transmission, but i also got no damage when crashing or flatspots when locking the front wheels.

Assetto is by far my favourite sim, but the lack of this setting is disapointing.

Simplest solution is to buy a pedal set with an actual clutch- the auto clutch in AC I find is horrible.

I got a clutch pedal, but i can't handle heel and toe. and i don't got the skill, the sake and the freetime to learn it good enough for racing. specially when i drive paddle-shifted modern race cars the most time and only sometimes oldies.
I used autoclutch over 300 hours with paddles in assetto corsa, for my driving skills it is good enough.

If you have a clutch pedal, then don't use auto clutch-it won't allow you to change gear correctly.

You don't need auto clutch for paddle shift cars either, I have no idea why you are using it for that.

As for heel and toe, just turn on auto-throttle blip on downshift for cars that don't have it, problem solved but don't use auto clutch if you have an acutal clutch pedal.

I know i don't need it for sequentiel cars, but before i bought the shifter i used to drive h-shifted cars with paddels to.
and auto blip also don't work with h-shifter.

the problem is, i can't handel the clutch. I got my right foot on gas, and the left on brake. and my third leg can't reach the clutch. :-P
and braking with right don't work for me in sims. therefore i need auto clutch with my shifter, to play this game so that its fun for me.
And the other 2 sims i tried have this. Only Ac not, and this is what i don't understand.

The best solution for me is to turn off damage for h-shifted cars, then i can drive them like in AMS oder R3E.

What? You're not helping yourself by using the pedals incorrectly.

It sounds like you've gotten too used to racing without a clutch and shifter, if you were driving a real car and trying to rev match on downshifts you'd need to learn how to use all 3 pedals at the same time, and this is a sim after all.

Try it with some trainers on, just like you would in a real car and it will make it loads easier.

Unless a player is lucky enough to have pedals where the brake uses a load cell, then heal-and-toe is not realistically possible. A firm base is necessary for the ball of the foot which you don't have with a displacement sensing brake pedal. When I raced in real life I had no problems with heal-and-toe but with my sim pedals I have to turn on full time abs to heal-and-toe because accurate braking isn't possible for me if I don't.

Having the right shoes makes a big difference. I personally recommend flats with a somewhat flexible sole. Vans work quite nicely.

Yup I have the same problem. I have kind of learned to right-foot-brake now and I'm using the clutch on both upshifts and downshift. It's fun occasionally but I still feel the auto clutch is broken in Assetto Corsa and I wish it wasn't. But my question is this - why does it work on PlayStation 4 for my friend? He has no H-box but is using auto clutch and paddles all the time.

Works fine on the thrustmaster pedals with the firm brake mod (skateboard bushes behind the pedal)

All I'm seeing here is "I can't drive properly so what is wrong with the game?"
If you can't handle a manual transmission then don't use it. It's called a simulator for a reason, you have to just learn how to do it because a real car won't hold your hand either.
Redvaliant Feb 2, 2018 @ 8:58am
Tha cars that use a H Gate will default to it if you have the shifter connected and enabled. The older cars need slow and deliberate clutch shifts. It takes a while but once learned the shifts are an amazing part of driving in AC. But otherwise just turn on auto blip and right foot brake with left foot clutch shifts.

Assetto Corsa is a simulation and there are no extras!

What sense would it have to operate an H - shifter without a clutch?

Although there are manual transmissions which automatically control the clutch and gearshifts with electric actuators, these are then so-called semi-automatic machines (Easytronic), for which no H - shifter is required.

This is one of many things I love AC, no compromise, but as real as it gets.

So the question is, why does something absurd work like that in other racing simulations?
Max_Payne Feb 3, 2018 @ 12:08pm
It is WAY more satifying to drive using all racing techniques such as rev-matching and left-foot braking. Invest some time to the game. Once you get the ball rolling you just get better and better without realizing it
Yrgfilosoof Feb 4, 2018 @ 8:39am
Well guys, I get you. It's a simulation and you should bloody learn to drive haha...

I can do it and I can right-foot brake with older cars, shift with the clutch and I don't mind it. It's the way it is supposed to be.

But the game has auto-transmission, it has the ability to turn on traction control and ABS for cars which don't have it so I would like to assume that auto-clutch does what it does in all other sim games - the clutching :D

And in Assetto Corsa, it just doesn't do anything. I was dissapointed because it's either a PC-specific thing or H-box shifter thing because as I said, I have a friend playing it on Playstation 4 with no H-box shifter and he says the auto-clutch works as it should. He is a left foot braker, never uses the clutch.
