Compare AI telemetry to your own

I've noticed a 'select opponent' option in the telemetry section of Assetto Corsa but I'm not sure how this is working because the opponent records never seems to be populated. Does anyone have any understanding of how this works?

My guess was that you could perhaps select the telemetry of an opponent you're racing with in that session to see how they were going faster
