Limited multiplayer because no DLC?
I'm mainly interested in getting this game for the multiplayer, but I've heard that there's a bit of dodgy business going on in that players who have the base game can't play on servers that have DLC cars.

Would I be locked out of the most active multiplayer servers if I just got the base game?

Yeah you can't join servers that use DLC content you do not own unfortunately.

There's a filter to display servers that use the content that you have.

I disagree... the same is true for servers that run moded content (car or tracks)... there's no dodgy anything IMO.

There are a lot of servers running "vanilla" content... there's a bunch of servers running only moded content... there are a lot of DLC content servers too.

The multiplayer lobby system is a joke in this game. It's by far the dumbest way to do it. The game itself is good, don't get me wrong, but how the lobbies are limited in the number of a type of car, dictated by host, and the types of cars, also dictated by the host... means, you rarely actually get to use the cars you actually want to, if you want to play online. You have to adhere to whatever someone else picked.

For example, the Japan DLC has my favorite car selection, but more often than not, there isn't a single lobby using any of the cars, so I never get to drive any of them. And forget about hosting a server, it's the most backwards, obscure system you will ever come across in your life. These methods and ways of doing things are outdated by 15 years. Every other company seems to have multiplayer figured out, EXCEPT Assetto Corsa.

So while the gameplay is good, the rest of the package is a joke, so if you buy it, it's not a shocker like it was to me.

where are all these servers you are talking about, i have never seen a populated collection of dlc modded, and vanilla servers, the already sparse servers should not be divided by dlc like they are and it is an issue. real shame cause the ai are clutz

I prefer it this way with DLC required to use DLC servers as I don't like the idea of my HDD holding cars and tracks I haven't bought and locked away behind a `paywall`.

No thanks. If I don't wish to purchase your DLC, I don't want it on my HDD, get it SMS?
