Racing Line Help
Can someone tell me the color system for the racing line? I notice some lengths are green, yellow, red, but what do the colors mean? Thanks.

Also be aware that the racing line is a rough guide only. It's not dynamic. Depending on the car you're driving you may have to brake earlier than it suggests or you may be able to get away with braking later.

I recommend turning off the line all together, at first you'll feel very unconfident, but you'll learn far quicker from mistakes than folowing a line that not in all curcumstances helps, it's a rough guide.

Check out the above youtube it's from a Kunos employee and in the episode he talks about the racing line and how you can learn and go faster, in other videos he will talk about weight transfer and basic set up tips, oh and also he compares real life to assetto corso too.

just to add, you can sit in the garage on a public server and watch others by clicking on their name, change camera angle etc, that will teach you more about the lines to take than following an artificial line that tells you to brake in wrong places and causing an accident. Just note you have to click drive and then return to pit before clicking on players name works (for some odd reason), when you first enter a server.

One of the main reasons I recommend off (for line) is when you race there will be situations where staying on the line you'll not be able to do and you've become too dependant on it, feel lost and make mistakes. For example overtaking a car equal to you may need you to pass around several corners cleanly as they aren't just going to give up the place to you with out a fight, the excuse "I was slightly ahead so my racing line" is not acceptable and moving on to this line early will cause a crash and you'll blame them but if a mod/ steward is present you'll be penalised. Having the line off all those mistakes you have made in the past, you'll have knowledge from , for keeping it on the track and going around a corner on different lines helping you and others to have a fantastic racing experience and gain respect of others driving with you.

I recommend to turn it off - like all the other little helpers. Do not depend on them, they only keep you from learning and slow you down. In Sliverstone National they slow me nearly 2 seconds down! Mention what this means for a long track like the Nuburgring Nord.

No raceline, no car stability control helper, shifting manual, ABS and Traction Control to position default (It means they are only there if the car has it in reality). And then jump in one of these funny old cars like Ford Escort, Alfa Romeo GTA and use a track like Brands Hatch, Nurburgring GP or Zaandvort and have fun. Watch Aris Video`s https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXjZ1ncvNt3iNvUkCgWIx6Q they are very helpful and funny.

And when you are able to control these cars and you own the Porsche DLC`s jump into the 917 K and ride the beast. And if this car get´s to easy to handle, try the 917-30 turbo spyder or this very, very nasty Maseraty V12 Formula one. Go on to more difficult tracks. More modern cars will be easy to drive after mastering the old beasts, especially the GT 3 class ones.

Thanks to everyone that replied, I'll turn off the racing line and see how it goes!

I think one biggest step to take after turning off racing line is figuring out the braking points. You would almost always enter a corner on the outside and then try to hit apex, but you have more time to finese these. For braking points, however, the optimal window is just a split second and if you miss it you're in the sand.

I once you know where to brake, there are usually signs you can look at to help you remember. Also, if you miss your braking, you may have to keep braking into turn by not using full brake to help rotate car.
