Homeworld 2 Classic resolution issue

I have a strange problem with the screen resolution:
I tried changing the resolution to 1280x1024 which resulted in the fact that the resolution now is kind of bugged and the button to resetting it to default is under the screen, out of my reach, I tried to get there by trial and error but it dosent work, so I' m kinda stuck here now. Can anyone help?

P.S.
I'm aware of the fact that the Relic-version from 2003 had the same problem but I forgot it during changing the resolution...
I know about the old solution by adding '-w 1600 -h 900' to the Homeworld2.exe, too, but it doesn't seem to work with the Gearbox-version.

Hi there. There is a text file where you can set the resoltion manually, it is called:

PLAYERCFG.LUA

in the folder:

\steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\bin\profiles\profile1\

scroll to the bottom of the file to find the lines:

screenResolutionW = 1280
screenResolutionH = 1024

you can set them at your preference. If you still have problems with buttons off screen you can try the solution for display scaling here:

No problem. Yeah it's an old game and not much has been done to the original file structure unfortunately. Plus you've got the added steam directories to search through.

I've done all the necessary things, and my screen is now a normal size but....
stuff is still cropped out (the apply button, start game, and other stuff)
I'm stumped, and frustrated.

Hey guys, Just got on this. You actually have to first change the dpi scalling to off in the Homeworld 2 classic exe. not the Homeworld rm .exe. you do this by going into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release then selecting the exe icon, properties disable dpi scaling and you should be able to use whatever res.

When i do all of these steps it ends up being moved down to the bottom left corner of my screen!?!

Sammi79 im using the disc version of homeworld 2 from 2003 and i cant find the text file PLAYERCFG.LUA any idea were it might be or on the disc version does it not exist?

I think that the display / graphics settings may be getting cloud synced by accident. With Homeworld 2 classic.

What about the mods that go to HW2 classic? I try load to one of the mods but ends up with the same problem.
