Certain car types like for instance 1967 Ferrari #24 Ferrari Spa 330 P4, drive really wonderfully. Now I upgraded that car and tuned it and driving with unbeatable drivetars I am really fast and beat the AI's and in my last race where I checked it explicitely I saw one other AI having a faster time than me in the race I did where it was about 0.100th of a second faster, around there. Like.
I really enjoy driving cars that handle well, there are other examples than the Ferrari but the game has a problem with GT3 cars I mentioned in the beginning and unbeatable drivetars. The cars handle like crap honestly. I'm sorry to say this but the thing is if I start like let's say 6th or 7th or 8th there are literally 3 cars in the beginning of the grid that take a huge advantage and I can't keep up nor can I catch them up and then as another extra, the cars behind me start to catch up because I have issues with the car handling where the AI seems to drive much faster into and out of corners and I can't :(
Now. I am turning the setup and attempting to like make a decent car setup so I can catch them up like I do with many other racing cars where I start the last on the grid and basically can catch up with the leaders and overtake them often and finish first on unbeatable but this is because those cars handle so good and the AI is competitive, it really is just it seems to drive in that case a bit conservatively, not always but I am having fun but again...
When I'm driving the GT3 cars like the Corvette or the Ferrari I am struggling...
So. I think yes, the tune must be literally perfect for me to be competitive and I'm working on that but at the same time... Combination of (poor) car handling and very fast AI on "unbeatable" really makes me struggle to keep up so...
I just wanted to say that I'm wondering what's going on and if this in the futrue can be improved? Like IMHO GT3 cars and maybe some other cars need to really become better in handling so they literally stick to the road and we can drive like the drivetars that are set to unbeatable.
Like, I ought to make a list of cars which I think could do with an improvement but the truth is I haven't I think drove all the cars and I've already attempted to do it here with the most recent knolwedge I have so, I am really hoping that the car handling in game gets some improvement, perhaps, yes?
I mean I literally read like often that people are saying that these games have an understeer problem and it seems to check out and I don't know what is up. Probably like we need great tunes but at the same time we ought to be competitive with minimal but good tuning as well because it comes down to preference tuning wise, no? I mean given that the tuning is done withing correct and competitive parameters.
What I mean to say is like the game seems a bit incossistent across the board cars handling wise.
Can you be a little more specific please.
I was curious and drove all three cars and I find nothing egregious about the GTLM cars (the C7.R and 488 are not GT3 cars). The C7.R, considering the differences with the physics model, is very similar to the same car in AC.
Compared to the 330 P4, the P4 is about 1,000lbs lighter and can get lighter still with upgrades. FM doesn't give L/D ratios, but when upgraded the stock downforce lateral G spread isn't that far from the 488 and the P4 has a smaller frontal area than every GTLM cars. Meaning, it has a better HP/CdA, meaning it has a higher top speed HP to HP. Lastly the P4 has a more lively engine, which by itself makes the car more fun than the engines in GTLM and GT3 cars which are designed around balance of performance.
Not saying you're wrong, however, I just don't see a problem with those cars.
It seems that the game is like I think really dependent on car setups, specifically having a good or a great one, which I think is fine but it's kind of hard to tinker with these for me.
I have noticed that the cars handle better, the GT3 cars handle better the better my car setup is which admittedly is logical but beyond a certain point I think that the setup becomes more preference based than there to make you go faster so I'm just struggling a bit to setup the car properly but I'm getting some help in this regard.
What I've noticed is indeed having a better setup makes me be faster. I used my own setup and that didn't work super well (was 3rd) and then I downloaded someone's setup and that got me into the lead, so in essence it's fine really. Sometimes I get frustrated in game and then my whole perception sort of shifts lol then I'm like aaargh; and this, and aargh and that but...
There might be nothing wrong, especially if and when you make that ACC comparison, which I do love ACC. Didn't play it super much but, I really do like it.
I get what you’re saying, but the thing is setups are more critical in real life than any racing game I’m aware of, especially for high downforce cars. When drivers talk about being off the pace because of setup issues that is not (always) an excuse. A mere change in track temperature can make a good setup garbage. All those engineers are on the team for a reason.
That is the very annoying thing about FM and most other racing games. You have to tune by feel. The game could give you all kinds of data to make a decision on what feels good versus what is fast, but it is hidden. GTR2 had an entire Motec data feed built into game that you could analyze after the race. I know T10 and others wish to simplify certain aspects of the game (they don’t even show hp and torque curves anymore), but they should at least keep the option for those that want it.
I was talking about AC. I don’t think any of the cars mentioned are in ACC.
I really can’t say enough how much I hate the GT3 class. In NASCAR all the cars are essentially the same and it is a driver and team race. In GT3 the cars are NOT the same by they are BOPed race to race to make them have roughly the same performance. What’s the point? Just go to a spec chassis and body and get it over with.
Sorry, can’t help the rant.
