Career mode - Frustrated player
Is it so difficult to create a good career mode? Sometimes I get the feeling that video game creators don't understand what users need.

I have completed the entire first "cup" and I don't feel like continuing, I prefer to abandon it and spend my time in multiplayer mode.

Don't call it career mode, just put it in single player so you don't show any knowledge of what a player expects in a career mode.

A career mode should include progression, noticing how your character improves and achieves goals as you progress. Feeling like every new car has taken an effort to achieve, feeling like every improvement you get makes you excited to try it on your car. Look at your garage and feel like each car that is added to your collection has its own story. Feeling proud when you finally manage to beat that competitor who is faster than you.

The career mode of this game is like:
-Enter this circuit, take this car, do 6 laps in 5 circuits and then start again with another gifted car. Repeat this 30 times.

Not being able to even configure the duration of the races so that you have to pit in all of them, and there is no Qualifying!!! You can choose the starting position... seriously? This is a joke?

It makes me angry that people have the possibility of creating great video games and for some reason that I don't understand they do these things. Please let me know before creating the next video game, I promise to help for free just so I can enjoy a proper game later.

I'm sorry if I was a little harsh in my words, but I really can't understand it, it's just frustration.

They have like 100+ race cars modeled in the game, most of which in respectable quality, their game is literally called MOTORSPORT and their whole career is just driving city cars for 50 hours...hilarious. This "Career" is just put together in 15 minutes or less.

You can just spend a day and design better Motorsport races with the current "Free Play" in-game tool. I even made a few Multiclass Endurance races my self already....

I've completed the first two cups, and I agree with everything you said. Now I spend my time with Rivals more than anything. The career mode is dumb....not one cup with race cars in it. All street cars. There is one entire 5 race series about a damn Mazda Miata.

I honestly believe the career mode we got was just and introduction, because that's what it really looks like.
Like the part with the actual racing cars got cut.
Though maybe i'm giving them too much credit

Agree, it's a joke. A Forza reboot and 6 years in the making. This is what we get. Not to mention only 20 tracks as opposed to 37 in GT7. The game is severly lacking content and wasn't ready to be released. I don't care if they add new stuff months after release because I will not be playing then.

You are. It's not excusable. There is no story. It's just a series with races with the same car. They have the cars. They even have the tool for creating races in-game. And still all they could do is pick some of the most outdated car models they had available for some of the slowest cars in the whole garage.

I did the intro cup and moved to Freeplay. There, you do what you want, how you want, and it's a much better experience. Sure, it's not a curated career, but games have done a poor job of that for a long time.

I tried to return to the cups, but the unlock paths are arbitrary and a big waste of time. I don't want to ride in random cars, I know what I want to drive. So I'll stick to freeplay.
The career mode is pitiful. As someone who's been playing Forza Motorsport since 2005 on the original Xbox, this latest game is abysmal. While the driving feels good, everything else feels lacking. It's clear that they withheld A LOT of content to nickel & dime their player base through this new "live service" model. Additionally, the graphics are just weird. There are car models less detailed than those that were in Forza Motorsport 5 -- a 10 year old game!

When it is a monopoly, they will no longer be able to complain, that's what they wanted... we paid for it with tears.

Yeah the career mode is a joke.

I'm almost an entirely singleplayer guy for racing, but this crappy career mode made me start playing multiplayer.

This seems like a standard career mode for Forza Motorsport/Gran Turismo. Whether you think it is excusable or not, this has been a standard of these games for 20-or-so years.

This is like 5% of the old Gran Turismo and Forza careers.
Even the first Gran Turismo had more career content than this.

Tell me you've never played a Forza Motorsport game without telling me you haven't played a Forza Motorsport game. FM 3 and 4 had amazing career modes.

Yes, this.
FM 3 and 4 was very fun to drive, not a choir. FUN is the key word.
The best career mode was in FM4.
There was such a huge calendar with so many races... Everything after it was just crap.

The career mode is really a bad joke. Remember when Chris Esaki announced the "completely new" career mode? Right from the first gameplay showcase I was very disillusioned. There was nothing "new" to see. Fortunately, I decided to try out the game in Gamepass first.
