There has to be something wrong
The game has a major optimization bug, I can’t get it every time to the strange fps behavior but I am almost certain it has something to do with the „vram usage“. If you set up the graphics and it states it’s only taking like 5gb of vram, in the end it will go higher than double. So you start racing with ultra settings in 4k and have 80fps . You do this for 4 races sometimes more or less. All of sudden your fps cuts in half or lower, it has to be a vram problem. The game just keeps on loading things into vram without pushing things out. After a restart the game runs normal again…. I have watched the Reddit and official forums there is no real help for fixing this behavior and I am clearly not the only one with that bug!

For me, my FPS was tanking when I first tried playing on night 1, I was lucky to average 23 frames and had hangups/freezes that lasted as long as 1-2 seconds. I troubleshooted and found the problem. V-sync was causing it for some reason (though others report V-sync works fine for them so your mileage may vary) but the game wouldn't let me disable V-sync unless I ran it in a window which was NOT HAPPENING. I just forced V-sync off with NVidia control panel and now it runs fine.

Side note, ray tracing is poorly optimized and caused some micro-stuttering so for now I have that off. I average 90-130fps with almost all settings maxed at 1440p ultrawide and am having more fun with a racing game than I have had in problem over 20 years.
I wish you the best and sincerely hope you get it to work so you can see for yourself if you like the game or not.

It's possible there is a leak as stated by others, however, we need to keep in mind the VRAM usage displayed in game is what ONLY the game is using. So, if it says 5,5 out of available 6 per example you are certainly going above it, since your PC us probably using extra 1-2 GB even at idle for background things like Steam, Windows and other software.

You can check this in task manager and check Performance tab then your GPU section. Then you will see your dedicated GPU memory usage out of the game.

I'm at the point where I have to reset the game every time I load a new map. It's absolutely a memory leak somewhere going on because it's the same issue even if you try to reload the same map once you reach the main menu. Hopefully we get a fix sooner rather then later because right now this is completely unacceptable that I'm force to completely reset the game session each time I finish a race in a single map.
