Atmos? Really?

I am lucky enough to have a home theatre made of multiple components in a 7.1.4 configuration. This game is the ONLY game i own capable of Dolby Atmos supposedly that forces a downgrade on output to only 5.1. Nothing coming from the side speakers, nothing coming from the 4 Atmos ceiling speakers of my home theatre system.

Games like RE4 Remake, Forza Horizon 5, The Last of Us p1 and many others even older have no issues outputting all channels but for some reasons, despite having all audio settings on the best this game allows, only ever 5.1 channels are outputted. Yes I have "Dolby Atmos" set on Windows as sound output and as the spacial sound settings too.

Did I miss something? Why the all out claims of Dolby Atmos if all the channels for it are not encoded in the audio output of the game? I really hope that "recorded in Dolby Atmos" is not a bogus marketing claim. In fact 5.1 Atmos means nothing, it needs another digit to indicate the number of top/roof channels, no? Or is it some kind of "Enhanced stereo Virtual channels" thing?

When you play Gran Turismo 7 in Dolby Atmos on 9.2.4 you expect others should be close. But forza is terrible in every way. but wow oh wow does GT7 make surround sound glory seem like the deal of the century!

Gran Turismo were the great old days but exclusively PC now and it doesn't look like the series will be ported to PC anytime soon :/

Taking on board the comments, how comes Forza 5 Horizon makes a decent job of Atmos output but Forza Motosport, more recent game, does not? Realise the Forza name alone does not mean the same team of devs but come on, is it just marketing then?

Seems to confirm early suspicions - 5.1 but not Atmos. Hey Forza Motosport, can i get my money back and can you remove your false claims of Atmos sound? Such a joke.
