What happened with AI since Update 8 - weird
Not to be arrogant, but I'm a pretty good player, I'm 4999 in multi and I play against the best drivers.
I play career sometimes, I do the current series, that's all.
What I noticed, however, is that since Update 8, the game cheats horribly on Drivatar difficulty 8. This is most noticeable in open class.
C class, the opponent M3 BMW, whose acceleration and speed are brutal. I tried it first with a Megane, it was destroyed by the M3. Then I came with the CL Mercedes, with which I can overtake them at the start.
It's one thing that I can't complete the task time in practice, but the race vs ai is a horror.
If I don't overtake in the first corners and I'm not braver, then the first place will pull away and it's simply impossible to catch up the first AI driver. They are fast and take turns brutally well. Unreal.
I didn't test it, but the 7th drivatar also became much harder (cheating)?
The game isn't really enjoyable that way.

What did you experience? There is absolutely no sense of accomplishment, and I have no desire to play this way.

I had to bump it down from 7 to 6 in order to still get podiums starting from 12th in builder.

Though despite being faster the AI still brakes in some stupid spots and completely disregards your presence on the track -_-

I think they increased rubber band effect of AI recently, I haven`t observed it as severe before.
I`ve seen AI all of the sudden out of nowhere closing in very fast on straights overtaking me and they are gone. They didn`t had this much speed the last 3 laps but for no good reason they have this insane performance boost momentarily.

Pretty sure it isn`t slipstream it is a very significant jump in performance and speed.
Also certain 2nd place gets a big push in overall lap speed for the last lap. They drive the last few corners insanely fast out of nowhere creating these artifical close finishes.

And then there is also often a leading pack which in some races you have basically no hope in catching up to.

Sorry ya'll but this is what happens when regular gamers try to make the "rules" for a racing game. This is just more of the "Content levels to Match" idea only in racing form. You consistently get this idea that at all times the content must be in some way challenging. Ignoring the generally accepted idea that a guy in a car racing will be consistently the same speed across all times you drive against them. It's a new "way" of envisioning gaming. I don't like it in racing. Consistency is the most important part of AI in racing. Lower AI should be slower, not as fast while making more mistakes. AI should pull the exact same times it pulls in practice. Ect. . . .

In 8.0 the A.I. got a little better, but they broke it with the Hotfix 8.1.

Turn10 can't make competitive AI, so they have resorted to rubberbanding. After hotfix 8.1 it was "turned up to 11",

you can test it by running the Taycan (E tron, or any other top speed limited car) on an oval, and watching the replay. On Lvl 8, the "chosen one" will be running 5-7mph faster than the highest possible top speed of the car up until the last lap.

I guess I should throw out a spoiler alert here, because watching the telemetry of the opponent AI during replays will shatter any illusion of realism in the game, They regularly pull in excess of 2g's on stock tires, brake in distances not possible on this planet, and summon horsepower out of thin air.

What bothers me about the whole situation is the way they sold the AI prior to launch. Chris was saying that if the AI beat you, it was because they out drove you, and as we can see, that is simply not the case. They couldn't figure out how to make the AI genuinely fast, so they resorted to near Mariokart level rubberbanding, and blatant disregard for the laws of physics.

Much like every other part of the game, the AI are a cheap, lazy interpretation of what was promised prior to launch.
