CAN'T PASS FIRST SPLASH SCREEN FIX FOR RX580
I'm using a RX 580, since update 1.0 -2.0 i racked up about 441 hours of playtime... but since update 3.0 i’ve not been able to launch the game. and update 5.0 just give me an error code ( Unsupported graphics card detected code AP205 ) Failed to create D3D12 Graphics device… can’t even get a refund because i have 441 hours playtime...

(FIX)

This is what the forza support team said to me over the weekend....

Hello,

We're looking into this issue.
Can you try rollback your AMD drivers to version 23.10.01.14.

https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-MS-AGILITY-SDK-2023-6-711.html

Please let us know if this works for you.

Forza Support Team

this worked for me, you have to scroll down to see the below text then click the blue writing that says AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.10.01.14 for DirectX®12 Agility SDK Driver Version for Windows® 10 and Windows® 11 then the driver will start downloading. i used the amd clean up tool to remove my old drivers first..

The AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.10.01.14 for DirectX®12 Agility SDK installation package can be downloaded from the following link:

It looks like the problem is not specific to CPUs or GPUs being AMD products or not, since users on another discussion running Ryzens and in one case an RX 7900 XTX can start the game just fine:

I think we with older cards just do not have the drivers to be able to run Forza Motorsport anymore. We have to wait until AMD releases updated Adrenaline versions to be able to play again. It looks to me like newer AMD products got Adrenaline 23.12.1 pretty sharpish, while Nvidia drivers are generally more suited to run the game across all cards.

It is possible AMD will not provide updated drivers for older hardware, though it is more alarming Turn 10 released an update that is this incompatible with drivers that are less than 2 months old in my case :steamfacepalm:

TL;DR We need AMD drivers from mid-2024 to play microsof racin gaem in late 2023

Those of us with newer hardware "7840" with 780m graphics has the same issue. It doesn't have anything to do with the age of your hardware with this particular issue.

I just upgraded from an amd rx 580 to an amd rx 7600, i previously encountered the same issue as you all but now the game is starting flawlessly. The update probably introduced an issue with older AMD architectures

My bad, my comment was longer than it should have been. If you have a newer gpu, chances are you have newer drivers, since it seems AMD prioritizes newer hardware customers. It makes sense to me.

What does not makes sense is Turn 10 pushing out an update ahead of their customers' driver capabilities.

The support team keep trying to close my ticket as "Solved".

Don't let them! If they close it, reply and it will be reopened.

Use a text editor, and open the file:

%localappdata%\Microsoft.ForzaMotorsport\User_SteamLocalStorageDirectory\ConnectedStorage\ForzaUserConfigSelections\UserConfigSelections

Find the line that has "IDS_Framerate_Label" on it, and edit the "value", so that "value" equals to "IDS_Framerate60". The line should be like this:

<option id="IDS_Framerate_Label" value="IDS_Framerate60"/>

Then save and try starting the game.

You can also lock the framerate to 60 using MSI Afterburner.

After experimenting with 60, you can try higher framerates (like 120).
Anything more than 75 makes my game stutter. Because the game is 100% CPU bound. It maxes out single cores and that makes the game stutter.

People are talking about update video drivers solve the problem, but for some older VGAs there´s no recent update, like my RX580 8gb. So AMD needs to update the drivers for older GPUs or I need to chance my VGA??

i don't think the rx580 is the problem i have a 580 and i was playing forza on the day of the update for a few hours before i shut down the game to do the update... i was playing the game in 1080p and getting around 70ish fps with everything on medium settings, we just a fix thats all no new Graphics card needed...

Yeah, the update optimizes the game and now uses new libraries (or something like that). Those libraries where added real recent to the VGAs and the last driver launched to the RX580 was 2 months or more. If AMD discontinues the suport (updated suport) to VGAs like RX580, im afraid we should save money to buy a newer VGA

You have an intel CPU, right? or not running AMD Radeon Adrenaline

thanks to [SRS13]Rastus(TTT) for findiing this article about AMD's driver support.

I'm afraid it's time to start saving for a new GPU, boys.

It seems that game doesn't like Intel 14 gen CPU with DDR5.

how did u get 70 fps on the 580 with 1080p medium? my gpu can barely reach 40fps at low settings, what did you do to get those high fps's?

Just want to chime in that AMD and Nvidia are not obligated to find solutions to broken games via their driver updates. The game developers are obligated to optimize and test their game so that it runs on the current hardware and drivers.

It's absurd that even current gen GPU owners need to wait for driver updates and hope that will make the game START. If all other games work on your system and this one doesn't, then screw it and don't waste your time. T10 are supposed to provide a working product not rely on AMD and Nvidia to make their game work...
