CAN'T PASS FIRST SPLASH SCREEN FIX FOR RX580

I'm using a RX 580, since update 1.0 -2.0 i racked up about 441 hours of playtime... but since update 3.0 i’ve not been able to launch the game. and update 5.0 just give me an error code ( Unsupported graphics card detected code AP205 ) Failed to create D3D12 Graphics device… can’t even get a refund because i have 441 hours playtime...

Can you try rollback your AMD drivers to version 23.10.01.14.

this worked for me, you have to scroll down to see the below text then click the blue writing that says AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.10.01.14 for DirectX®12 Agility SDK Driver Version for Windows® 10 and Windows® 11 then the driver will start downloading. i used the amd clean up tool to remove my old drivers first..

I have a 580 and about 40 hours in game, same thing, in fact I got the same email you did from support. Heck I bought the $100 dollar version before launch, of Motorsport, Horizon and Flight Sim. I asked in a follow up email what is to stop them from doing this for the other games, and I was told to refund. Yeah not going to happen several months after release. But at least I can subscribe to Xbox Game Pass ultimate and not access the premium contents I payed for. Never giving Xbox another dime. Either Xbox needs to back down, buy all those affected new AMD graphics cards, or get everyone a series X and the premium version, or Direct X 12.1 on the older AMD cards.

I hope others having this issue will see this post as I have found a solution. It makes a lot of sense what was wrong. I saw my Windows build was very old and due to something with Windows Update it wouldn't allow me to receive critical updates. Downloading the Windows 11 installer from Microsoft (just Google Download Windows 11) it then upgraded me from build 21996.1 to 22631. Everything works fine and all error messages have gone away - I hope this works for you too.

Also got the "failed to create graphics device", but later realized that I didn't have AMD Adrenaline software installed on my device. Installing this (together with drivers that popped up during installation) it seems to work, so maybe checking for updates or re-installing the software would make a difference for some people.
Probably won't work for everyone, but worth a try if you get this error on a medium/high end AMD video card. It worked on my device using a AMD Radeon RX 6800.

I solved my problem with RX 580 8gb. I ordered a cheap RX 5600 from aliexpress and now the games runs, and beter than before.

maybe something related but not the gpu problem excactly, im not sure, both my computers with rx580 and 6750xt dont make the game run

hmmm that's strange, that's a pretty high end gpu that should definitely be able to run the game, but I've seen on the forza forums that nvidia users with high end gpus that can't get past splash screen also, the games in such a poor state, and the only one's to blame is the dev's and the higher ups making the calls to push this turd out,

it's so bizarre....my gtx 1050 ti works fine and my "new" rx580 doens't....it's amazing crap who the guys from turn 10 does....and so much bizarre is forza horizon 5 works everything ok....waiting for a fix because it's unnaceptable this "solution"...

yes turn 10 did acknowledge the problem on the forza website in the forums section --- here @ https://forums.forza.net/t/crash-after-update-3-0-my-game-no-longer-opens-1684419/657610/117
basically they stopped us from posting on the forum about the problem,, then they said this : (We are closing out this issue. The developers have noted this issue as Fixed as of Update 5.0 on 02.14.24 At the time of the fix this topic had 57 votes.)
and what they mean by a fix is they gave us the error message when we open the game....

joke of a dev team, i really loved forza since forza motosport 2 but i hope this company gets shut down its a joke now, just a broken hollow shell of what they once was...
