Does The Steam Version Use The God Awful Xbox App?
Tried playing Forza Motorsport through the Game Pass but i couldn't even get beyond the "Connecting to Xbox Services" screen because it kept saying i couldn't connect despite my internet being fine and nothing else having any issues with connectivity. Tried playing it in offline mode since that was another option next to "Reconnect" but instead it just ignored me clicking offline mode and kept trying to reconnect to Xbox services.

So my question is does the Steam version of Forza Motorsport use the same awful Xbox Companion app that the Windows Store version uses? I suspect the Steam version basically just lets you play the game from Steam, but it still runs through the Xbox App/Windows Store which will be very unfortunate if that's the case, but oh well what can you do.

Thanks

If you press (WindowsButton+G) and you are logged into an account there, everything should work fine. If it doesn't you will have to create an account or log into your already existing account. You have to be logged in there and use the same account in the game, else it won't work.

You should also log into your Windows OS 10/11 with an account that you created online, not with a local unregistered account. Because that can cause problems like blackscreens and such if you try to start a X-Box game then.

It's been like this since the first Forza games got released for PC, so since Forza Motorsport 6 Apex and Forza Horizon 3. You always had to log into Windows using an account that is registered online and had to use your X-Box account to play the game. Also Teredo and NAT Type matters if you play online against other ppl. If you only play singleplayer you don't have to worry about that.

Ok, thank you for the detailed response. I do have an online Xbox App account i've used before on Game Pass, i've used it for State of Decay 2 multiplayer as well as Sea of Thieves multiplayer without issue (State of Decay 2 had a few connectivity issues but i believe those were related to the game and not the app, and i was able to resolve them). I attempted to use the same account with Forza Motorsport but it kept getting stuck at that "Connecting to Xbox Services" screen and saying it couldn't connect. I also made sure my name didn't have any italics or odd symbols in it since i read that could cause some issues too, but the connectivity issue still persisted.

I'll continue to mess with it, maybe i'll be able to get it to work somehow.
