Forza Motorsport Detailed Benchmark 6800xt
So I decided to do an in-depth Forza Motorsport performance analysis by using AMD Adrenalin Performance Logging tool. For this test, I completely removed GPU driver in Windows safe mode with DDU tool. A fresh install was made using AMD latest Driver.

Spec; 6800xt, 5800x,32gb, ssd.

I have a detailed Google Excel sheet that, has all the info involving benchmark, specs nd system configuration with some interesting data, based on 3 different visual presets on same track nd track conditions.

1. 4k Ultra, Car reflection- No RT-high
2. 4k Ultra, Car+RT-high
3. 4k Ultra, Fullreflection +RT-high

The Google Excel sheet, consists of benchmark for each Visual Preset, and a comparison between all of them with tons of data. Here is the link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QdW2imQXpcKtWPpBNn5ItQUOSPc06YqSSUJj_zPZloU/edit?usp=sharing

During my observation I noticed a few things about the benchmark results;

Visual Preset 1; 13073mb avg Vram usage - avg fps 59.69
Visual Preset 2; 13582mb avg Vram usage - avg fps 55.77
Visual Preset 3; 14101mb avg Vram usage - avg fps 53.84

Its pretty significant that this game uses lots of Vram, so people who run out of vram will get a brutal performance hit. Also the higher the RT effects the more Vram it will request. People with powerfull Nvidia GPU but with limited Vram will surely get punished for this, which really sucks.

I enjoyed making this, Im curious if some of you will use my layout of the Excel sheet but with your own data, nd share your results to see a difference.

My personal experience with current setup, this game actually runs admirably at 4k ultra with basically locked 60fps with most extreme track condition but without the RT effects.

Im guessing Nvidia users at 4K ultra RT max are capping out around 10G
if there cores can handle it

My 3090 is very much on par with your benchmark Worst case scenario 24 players in the wet with RT reflections at native 4K
but in game averages at about 75fps

Oh wow, how is possible that Nvidia uses less Vram ingame, like your 3090 using around 10gb ?

Also about your average of 75fps, in my test I capped FPS at 60fps vsynch on for all the 3 visual presets I mentioned above, which was done intentionally. The reason was to test if my system spec could maintain 60fps in worst case scenario at all time nd see how low the fps would drop.

It would be great to see some indepth data of your game performance of your system spec, Nvidia should have a performance logging tool to achieve this. Can you share it using may excel sheet layout.

3090 at 4K with RT uses 11GB+ VRAM
NVIDIA are huge and they have always had the better, more optimized drivers, so there is some difference in VRAM usage. Nothing that significant or noteworthy tho, since AMD are just brute-forcing their way with cards that have twice as much VRAM. The 6800XT at 16GB can comfortably chug 12GB at the game no issues. FSR and DLSS also increase VRAM usage slightly keep in mind.

I think those results are pretty good.
Both the 6800XT and the 3090 are superb cards. The 3090 is mega OP to this day. Especially the 24 GB of VRAM. Nowadays games just eat VRAM for breakfast. You might have a very powerful card but if it's 8GB you are done...max you will play is 1080p.

Hey men thnx for sharing some interresting info like FSR nd DLSS requiring more vram then native, in my case I never use Upscalling tech, I preffer Native.

But your explanation about the Vram is actually not correct, its not about brute forcing vram or anything like optimized drivers. There are plenty games like Hogwartz Legacy, Last Of us P1, Resident Evil 4 remake, PLague Tale Requiem that litterly criple your vram, nd Nvidia was the one that strugled significantly cuz of running out of vram compared to AMD in general. So knowing that, it still does not explain how Forza Motorsport utilize around 10+vram for a 3090, it might be an exception behaviour for this game on Nvidia gpu's, or maybi its an AMD issue causing to use more Vram then necessary.

Using DLSS or FSR REDUCES the V-RAM usage. Simply because allocated and used v-ram are two different things. Just because it sometimes doesn't show that the v-ram usage goes down, it REALLY does.

3090 at 4K with RT uses 11-12GB VRAM
6800XT at 4K with RT uses 12GB VRAM even in rain. Not sure why you are clocking 14GB VRAM. You might have stuff running in the background that's taking additional VRAM. Steam uses 600MB VRAM. Chrome uses extra 400-600MB. AMD Adrenalin app = 300MB. So on so forth. Check background apps and process.

By "brute force" I mean, AMD mid-range cards have more VRAM than Nvidia counterparts and usually do better in poorly optimized games because they just have more VRAM to spare.

You are correct. In most games it slightly reduces VRAM usage (you are rendering at lower res than native and up-scaling). In this game on my 6800XT it increases it. Probably cause FSR is utterly and completely broken in Forza.
