The free play is actually what I am most interested about. We used to play Forza 4 with my old Xbox 360 and MS Force Feedback wheel every year (be it christmas or new year) at family gatherings, even my old parents who do not play games. One chooses the car and the track and everybody races and compares times. But last year my Xbox finally bit the dust. I did have a new PS5 and thought what the heck, bought a new wheel for it and Gran Turismo 7, only to find out at the party that there is no Free Play / Arcade mode in it! It didn't even occur to me that this could be a thing, removing a feature that is extremely important for a party play! Last christmas was pretty much ruined as far as that activity was concerned... The Forza still has a proper Free Play of old, yes? All stock cars and tracks available, just pick and ride and have fun with a family?
Most of the complaints people have about career mode are avoided in free play. However, most people only want to do the corporate curated "car culture". Which is why it's boring to them.
Hell yeah!!! That fact alone makes the game worthy of purchase for me. Sure I do play single player campaign modes too from time to time but it is the party play that is, to me, the most important ability in racing games. I do like realistic not-arcade racing games but am not a hardcore sim racers otherwise.
