Still - even IF working and not crashing Forza is the worst AAA car sim on the market at the moment.
Least content, least tracks, bad multiplayer-ELO and Car-XP. When u say its the best casual racer atm you just haven't played others. Sorry.
- ACC is a sim, not a simcade and it has only GT cars and tracks
- AC with mods is not a game really, you have to make a game of it by modding and find some kind of a community to play on dedicated server with compatible mods
- Project Cars is dead
- rFactor is dead
- iRacing is a sim and I don't wanna play a subscription game where I have to purchase every track and car
- NFS series is total garbage
- Forza Horizon has unbearable physics with driving through brick walls and god forsaken cross-country races, and it also has no ranked multiplayer since FH5
- Beam.NG Drive is awesome, but it's sandbox physics simulator, not a racing game
The ONLY other game like Forza Motorsport is Gran Turismo, but guess what? It's not on PC. I don't wanna buy PlayStation to play one game
Yes, Forza's race model feels great. And you're hard pressed to find anyone who says otherwise.
But as a product, it's difficult to find something worse...
It launched completely broken and took nearly half a year to reach a state where most people could play it.
Not only does it barely have and content, someone decided that the new content they drip feed into the game has to be deleted at the end of the month...it couldn't be any more insane.
The penalty system still doesn't work and no one was able to make sense of it as of yet.
It has one of *the* worst AI models in the entire genre. The AI sticks to their race line come hell or high water, is completely oblivious to their surroundings, their speed is completely arbitrary, their cars are just cosmetic and depending on the track, the entire model breaks in half. It's a constant topic in patches and instead of being fixed, they apply one bandaid patch after the other, making it worse and worse.
The CarPG elements are a point of content as well. I happen to like it a lot, most people hated it, so they patched it to a point where it's pretty much dysfunctional and obsolete instead of removing it entirely.
The crux of this game is, that we are talking about a 100 bucks product that started with selling a week early access that no one could use because the game was broken.
It continued with an endless cascade of bugs, glitches, crashes among a content desert.
Forza Motorsports is a great tech demo.
It shows that Turn10 knows how to make a fantastic handling model.
It also shows that they are completely clueless about making videogames.
Though it's not unlike Microsofts other products.
Halo Infinite is rather similar.
The fundementals are great! The grappling gameplay is immensely fun.
I just wish it would be surrounded by an actual videogame instead of a large, empty test map.
Forza Motorsport 8 is a Valiant tank of racing games. It does technically meet all core requirements of a good racing games, but it's hard to enjoy it when you constantly have to struggle with technical issues, and questionable, if not bizzare, design choices.
Only hope left, is that its failures will be remembered and avoided by developers when they work on new racing game.
ROFLMAO!!! SERIOUSLY????
ACC is a sim right enough as is AC both the highest rated racing games on Steam with 92.28%+ and 92.46% respectively.
ACC max player count 12,376 4 months ago, 24 hour peak 4,058.
AC max player count 19,661 2 months ago, 24 hour peak 13,658.
iRenting has over 10,000 players daily (just not via Steam) also a sim but you get the picture.
AMS2 a game from an indie developer made up of ex modders whose attention to detail has lifted its Steam player ratings to just behind ACC and AC, @ 92.21%+.
AMS2 launch day numbers 1,150 Peak players 2,569 8 months ago 5th time it's beaten it's launch day numbers, peak players last 24 hours 838.
AMS2 has lost players recently (Since March April as many of us are testing it's next major update for the last 4 months to ensure it's stability and relatively bug free).
Just wait till that update we're testing arrives....
OK so what about simcade games then...
GRID 2019, 69.07%+ all time max players on steam 1038 at launch, barely able to get 45 players daily because it's a game so damned flawed they could only sell it full price for 74 days since launch.
Grid Legends, 73.76%+ max players on steam 455 at launch, less than 130 players in the last 24 hours.
Project Cars 3, 53.99%+ max player count 1,218, 24 hour peak 49 players...
Forza Horizon 5, 88.17%+ same game engine and physics as FM, max player count 81,096 24 hour peak 11,685.
Forza Horizon 4, 89.85%+ max player count of 75,689 just 2 months ago, 24 hour peak players 17,359.
And where does FM sit? 42.02%+ (Xbox store rates it 2.7/5 or 54%+) peak player count 4,703, 24 hour max of 643...
"Best racing game on PC" My arse.
When dead and dying games beat it for player ratings.
When an unknown Sim racer beats it hands down for players and ratings daily.
When even a demo of an upcoming drift game called JDM rise of the Scorpion has ratings of 69.09%+ and 630 players right now despite only launching 3 days ago.
Forza Motorsport is a Triple A f*****g JOKE compared to every damned title listed above even the dead ones killed by the exact same attitude T10 executives have to their staff and paying customers...
FYI the dev team are all on 18/6 contracts 18 months working on it 6 months forced sabbatical to avoid T10/MS paying for workers rights enshrined in law, so the entire dev team has changed at LEAST 4 times in 6 years of development, because who in their right mind is gonna sit unpaid for 6 months in the vain hope of another 18 months work?
NO ONE! They've all gone elsewhere so no-one working now has a CLUE what was done and what is actually broken and why. Let alone how to fix it..
Stop deluding yourself FM is a blatant cash grab just like Grid 209, Grid legends and Project Cars 3 were, broken and abandoned by games companies knocking on deaths door and ruining themselves in the process, SMS who made Project Cars disbanded, Codemashers who made Race Driver Grid that beat Fifa PES and Madden for best sports game BAFTA in 2008 sold off to EA, right after ruining Grid franchise, Project Cars franchise, Dirt franchise and steadily killing off F1 into the bargain (though it makes a change for EA to get robbed!)....
Codemashers took the exact path T10 are on right now, ignoring the fans, releasing broken games they can't or will eventually refuse to fix, that path ended them and destroyed their reputation into the bargain.
FM will take YEARS to fix, how long until T10 decide to pull a codies and move on to the next title????
Yup, all true.
Still prefer FM to any of the games you mentioned. It IS the best game of its type on PC.
But it is *objectively* not the best game of its type on PC.
Name another PC racing game that focuses on street cars and allows car modifications and tuning. If such a game exists I would have been there yesterday.
Every Horizon game with better player ratings than this POS, oh and has 24-26 TIMES the player numbers....
