Are there ANY good racing games anymore?

Seriously. This game is killing my hope that we'll ever see a (new) racing game that doesn't completely suck. It's gotten to the point where I'm starting to look backwards.

Have there been any new racing games released since Horizon 3 that wasn't shovelled out half-baked?

For gran Turismo and forza you just said they stopped being good at their best releases (which coincidentally were both the 4th ones in their respective series)

So you say it has to be the best in the series for it to be good

Also why tf would you want to compare anything to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FIFA unless the game is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad?

I tried the new Forza for 2 hours on the Xbox Series X. The FWD cars drive horribly. I don't know what tire model Chris Esaki uses, but it's downright terrible. The force feedback on the wheel sucks too. The graphics? Not even next-gen.

As of now, there isn't a racing game that feels like a complete package. I'm making my own soon, so check it out as I give out more details.

I mean dont get me wrong, those type of courses have their own charm and should definitely be in the game..........but when even your fictional race tracks look just like the real life ones, then you are doing something wrong.

They could do so many interesting things with those fictional courses:

- race tracks high up in the mountains, down a coast line, through old architecture like castles, through casino like cities (Las Vegas), through futuristic architecture in a fictional chinese city,.....

In Forza 7 they still had those kind of tracks like Dubai.

Yeah, the forced identity politics storylines in Horizon 5 are highly annoying, I agree.
Starting by having to chose your own pronouns over all of those npcs who never stop talking...... I tried Forza Horizon 5 on gamepass and instantly uninstalled it after a few minutes, because I couldnt take those npcs constantly telling me things Im not interested in anymore.

Even the racing in Horizon 5 is a lot of quantity over quality, course design wise.

Gran Turismo for example is arguably a light sim racer and still lets you drive through those impressive landscapes in their fictional courses, even Forza 7 tried to do that, with the dubai course.

Why should driving through beautiful landscapes and vistas be restricted to fantasy racers ? It doesnt need to be. Gran Turismo for example is arguably a light sim racer and still lets you drive through those impressive landscapes in their fictional courses, even Forza 7 tried to do that, with the dubai course.

It doesn't have to be, but I care more about accuracy of the racing simulation in games of this subcategory than a picturesque view.

Horizon 5 is better in every way than it's predecessors. No issues with this game either.

You dont have to.
Just boot up any of the Gran Turismo games.
Then you get best of both worlds.......great landscapes and good sim racing ;)

I completely agree with the OP. The racing games coming out lately are shockingly bad or okay at best.

I still love playing F1 2020 and Dirt Rally1, everything that came out after that wasn't even close to being as good.

Forza Horizon 4 and 5 were also fun for a long time and had good quality. But the entire Forza genre is becoming more and more unworthy of memory.

Forza Horizon 4 were great too, but i got bored of FH 5 first week.
Forza 2,3 and 4 were great. Forza 4 from 2011 is also still a good looking game in 2023.
