BRAKES ARE BROKEN - the same as they were in FM7 - Just HOW ????
FM7 brakes when using a wheel and pedals were a joke in FM7, how is it they develop a game for 5yrs and completely miss fixing it?

At full speed at the end of a straight, the brakes will hit ABS or lock with barely 40% travel/force at the pedal as measured in game????

Simply not realistic that I can brake at 100m or later and not have to hit the pedal any harder than 40% for optimum braking, same scenario, but if I nail the pedal to say 85% or more and bleed pressure off like I would for real, the car will sail past the apex and deep into the corner? It physically makes no sense, I cannot drive cars in game like I would a real car ?

I read that all assists for steering and braking are turned off when using simulation mode, how can I make this better ? £90 game, years developing it, and still a free mod for an old title like Assetto Corsa is more realistic ?

I thought I was going crazy thinking 40% brake input stops the car much quicker than 100% with ABS

Get an unlock on your car that enables brake tuning, and reduce the brake force until they lock up at the desired pressure.

check the deadzone mapping in controller/ sterring wheel settings. they are horrendous for this game. i think default for controller is 25%-100% so 25% movement does nothing and then you only get 3/4 the range for no braking to max force.

This post is referring specifically to wheel and pedal setup (TM T300 and stock pedals).

Its like the filter for control pads is still there and its rediculous,

Ive been through the dead zones, for pedals you dont really want a deadzone, our real cars dont have them, and other titles work perfectly in this regard. Yet the most expensive of them all falls massively short.

I have done this on this game and on FM7, whilst it "feels" better to drive, you will get absolutely abolished by control pad users who have modified controllers to limit the travel of the stick and have the brake force set to 200%, which is not only impossible in real life, but completely ridiculous to need/have to do this to be remotely competitive in the braking zones ? I first witnessed this in an organised league where cars were killing me in the braking zone, I asked how, and they all advised me on the brake settings to use! I had to run a stopper behind the pedal to not lock the brakes. Its just completely unrealistic and an utter pointless setting which Im sure only exists in this title.

Nope, its a thing, and worse than that, its carried over from the previous title, which shows they dont even rank this as being an issue, which means its here to stay, it literally stopped me playing FM7 and I went to Assetto Corsa, just so I could use my pedals correctly....

Yes, The brake is toooo strong, not normal, i need to set brake to 90% for that

Brakes are very touchy, but I haven't had any major locking problems after getting used to them. I have Thrustmaster pedals though. With Logitech (specifically G29/G920) I can see how that would be a problem if you haven't done the brake pedal mod.

I had serious issues with that as well. Put like not even 5% pressure on the pedal and your full lock. Messed with the deadzones and it did nothing. Then like the 3rd or 4th time i booted the game it was working, i wont really say properly as in say ac, but way better and i was able to actually modulate my braking.

Its been "good" ever since. No idea why. I have my deadzones for the brake set to 0 and 100. Using moza srp pedals. No idea what the problem was.

Edit: i was full lock even with abs turned on. I still dont dare to turn abs off though. The only assist im currently running

If i hit the brake pedal in the new car of my parents...

I push the brake 3-5 cm without anything happening, after that i can apply ALL pressure possible within next 5 cm and the pedal won't move anymore.

Exactly the same it feels for me with a load cell brake in my rig. It is very stiff, 5 cm "empty" travel and after that i have to apply up to 90 kg pressure.

So braking for me ( with a load cell brake ) is totally fine.

My only irk is the front wheels lock under full force on wet with ABS on.

Seems like load cell is less affected, largely due to the face its measuring actual load, rather than the travel on a potentiometer like most of the non load cell pedal sets,

adjusting dead zone has lessened the effect a bit, I moved the inside dead zone to 25, its still far from great, but its better!

@dersanitoeter - sometimes when I load into games, the first press of the pedal sort of calibrates the movement range, but if hold the desk and really apply some pressure it resets the calibration in a way, so that I get all the pedal travel registering on the in game brake level bar. Common to do it on Forza and BeamNg, others dont have this quirk.

It seems to me like there is only about %50 of the brake input even being noticed, which would make sense. The game locks brakes at about %45 because it thinks you are braking %90. That's the only thing I can think of. They need a way to calibrate your brakes so that the game can see the full range of motion.
