more details please ?
I've been saying the same the whole time...check Steam Input:
Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings
Look if PlayStation support is enabled.

Do the same for the game itself, right click on it in your library.
Sometimes, the issue is that for some reason, the individual game launches with a weird Steam Input profile (like Keyboard mappings).

What controller are you using?
XBONE gamepad works out of the box, including impulse trigger functions.

I was able to use my PS5 controller by connecting it to my laptop via Bluetooth instead of USB. Works just fine now. Game still runs like ♥♥♥♥ but at least the controller works lol

Check Steam if you have PS5 controller support properly enabled.
Sony's controllers use DInput instead of the Windows native XInput. Steam Input acts as an inbetween here.
If that doesn't work, try to disable controller support entirely in Steam.
I doubt FM comes with build in DInput support (being an XBOX 1st party title) but it's worth a try,

but its working on other games on steam and outside of steam like ride 5 and the crew motorfest so definetely its a FM problem

Yes, in 2023, bugs exist, including input device bugs.

I predict if humans exist and still have the resources to create software in the year 3000, bugs related to input devices will still exist at some level.

Time will tell.:mhwgood:

Again, you're using a DInput device for a game that most certainly was designed with XInput deviced in mind, being a Microsoft 1st party title.
Not all PC games natively support DInput, which is why SteamInput exists.
Check if your Steam has all available support options activated.

But should it though? Do we not have the experience and the technology and clearly the time to figure those things out before release? Wtf have they been doing for 5 years lol

The game isn't even officially released. This is officially a Early Access period.
Usually a time where a Day 1 patch is being prepared.
And we do have the experience and the known issues with DInput divices were solved: By using XInput on PC.
DInput is notoriously iffy and again, this is why Steam Input exists.
To eleviate some DInput issues by providing a middle man. The same purpose software like "DS4Windows" served back then.

we dont need a tutorial, we need a permanent fix. with multiple devices, virtual or physical MS games fail to detect gamepads properly. or cycling between devices constantly and interupting inputs

this is known at least since FH5

I'm using the Microsoft Elite 2. Worked first time the game was loaded, never worked since. The game even recognises when the controller is turned off but absolutely nothing else. Steam extended drivers installed, works in every other game. Clearly this idea of "xbox controllers will work" isn't always true.

As the Playstation guys are saying - this is a problem of the devs. How they can release a game where the most common input devices simply don't work in massive numbers is beyond me. Especially when it's one of their flagship games with a huge pricetag.

Because it's a Microsoft title, and both Windows and XBOX use XInput natively, as does all officially supported peripherals.
DInput is only used by generic off brand controllers and Sony.
And you can guess how big of a priority Sony peripherals are to Microsoft.
Again, use Steam Input. It's not witchcraft.

By the way, do adaptive triggers or controller and trigger vibration work for you? Because without it, there's no way to know what the car is doing.
