Weird clutch behaviour - Manual with clutch ON - with Pedals
I run TM T300 RS wheel and pedal setup, I am experiencing some odd behaviour when manual shifting using the setting manual with clutch,

Sometimes it works fine, other times it fails to see the clutch pedal was 100% so it delays the shift costing time per lap. There was a weird bug in FM7 where you would get gear grinding, but it would always manage to shift no problems, and at any speed I was capable doing with my shifter (TH8A).

Has anyone else had the same issues at all ?

i turned off manual with clutch for now because every start of a race my car would just sit there until i reengaged the clutch and/or gas pedal i couldnt figure it out, not ideal but it really sucks when everyone is driving off while im trying to get my car moving so theres definitely some weird stuff going on there

I dont have that issue, I leave the shifter in 1st gear and just mat the throttle pedal, odd that I dont even need to release the clutch to go at the start of the race

its a bit 90s arcade, we are all used to proper racing games by now so why is this stuff so hard to get right ?

Same. I also use a Thrustmaster wheel with the TH8A. There is some serious delay between gears. I have to granny shift in order to get to the next gear. Often just wait until the next gear appears in the HUD bfore I release the clutch and hit the gas. I also haven't seen a clutch adjustment to see if we can fix this.

Downshifting doesn't seem a problem if you rev match and double clutch.

But yeah, this does need to be fixed. Even Horizon does it better. Being able to utilize our three pedal, H-shifter setups is crucial for some of us.

Mines the exact same, no issue on downshift, and I dont double clutch, as there is no need in a game as there isnt in a vehicle with syncro gearboxes

This is the only thing that's holding the game back for me atm. I thought it was maybe because you have to earn the clutch/transmission upgrades first so the car will shift faster/normally... And while that does seem to help somewhat, it's still really really bad.

Getting a better transmission does help. But stock transmissions should not shift that slow. I also noticed that it might randomly get worse during a race and then suddenly fix itself.

I'll just wait for a patch. I drive mostly fully manual cars and can't enjoy them like this.

Back to Horizon 5 in the meantime

yeah it seems like a bug, this happens to me as well. Kinda ruining the game for me right now

Dont try speed shifting until you upgrade your clutch and flywheel. I THINK the idea is to replicate the clutch slipping/gears grinding. Fully press in clutch, hold, shift, release gas. Very delibratley. It gets noticably better with the upgrades

i think its just part of the crappy transmission you start with. When i did long diagonal shifts like to 5th gear it didnt happen if i deliberately tried to do it well with a longer depress and lift. If i rushed then it would slip.
When you upgrade transmission and clutch its much easier. In the sports one with Toyota Supra you dont even need to use clutch anymore with a race transmission, just need to blip throttle on downshifts.

Anyway, in another race sim i played there also cars that had this behaviour, especially older ones, and other cars which had really easy shifts. So wouldnt expect every car to be easy

Lastly, the manual setting tooltip mentions it can actually get damaged which affects the shifts. Not sure where to check this damamge though and how easy it is to damage

It's just broken, esp. if you switch to paddle shiftters (with auto-clutch) and it still wants you to press clutch pedal, if you use H-speed manual it delays upshifts, revving engine to redline and wasting time.
Just set to Manual and pretend Manual + Clutch does not exist.

Agree with others here, its just not realistic at all, I have a stock transmission in all 3 of my cars, and can change gear way more quickly than this "arcade game" will allow right now. I also have a track IRL which uses a stock transmission with an upgraded superlight flywheel but stock clutch, the revs drop faster but can still change gear very quickly compared.

The odd thing is, the issue is not there during a heel/toe downshift. I think it must be a bug, which is a pain, but whats worse is that if this is how they intended it to be?

Not everyone plays on a control pad, its time they optimised for wheel use also. Literally any car in Assetto Corsa is more involving to drive with manual gears currently.

The issue comes with getting on the throttle. If you switch gears manually, the clutch in-game will artificially stay at 100%. With an unbroken transmission, this is like 1/4 sec... but still too slow. But, you can shift as fast as you want, but you have to roll back onto the throttle. I think even if you disengage the clutch too fast with no throttle, it'll give like 1% damage. So shift like you're driving normally, not like you're on track. Which is realistic for our little boxes.

It really isn't, my Civic transmission is OEM stock transmission, I use on the track and I can change at a rate massively faster than the game allows. As per normal, they just overdone it, and over accentuated the effect.

This must be addressed. The worst part is if your playing with damage on the "missed shift" damages stock transmission. After about 10 times of this your gear meshing takes 3X longer and adds more damage each shift.

Maybe I'm just coping. But my 20 year old ES would not appreciate tearing his synchros like that, rest his crank.
