when cars are presented in menus it's like i forgot to put on my glasses
Not worthy of to be called raytraced on an RTX without any DLSS and every setting maxed. Can't believe it, but FH5 looks WAY better e.g. in the editor, where just 1 car needs to be rendered/ray traced.
Sorry to say, but THERE IS LOTS OF SPACE FOR IMPROVEMENT.
Shadows might be the wrong term, lets call them darker reflections...super jaggy and flickering like mad. I expect from RT on a 4080 accurate reflections, and they are NOT accurate. This looks not nearly like RL but very cartoony. Sorry to say.
Yes, this game looks like rubbish. At least not for its generation. Even Forza 7 looked better. Super jaggy graphics when up close, blurry textures a god-awful ghosting effect that I'm sure was not there before. It's everywhere: in the gauge cluster, when you are selecting wheels, and most noticeably, in chase cam. There is a literal ghost of your car always following you.
I noticed more stuff. Like colors. They look awful and half of the time you can't even get colors right. Some wheels you can't even paint, even though it gives you the option. Everything looks so shiny, like that cheap plastic chrome. Color reflects on random surfaces, the interior barrel of wheels look like shiny plastic from a toy car.
Even more stuff as I test other cars:
The BMW M5 (the newer one). Half of the wheels you select, the brake caliper will clip through them. I don't know if other cars are suffering from this, but this one was notorious for it.
How come this does not happen in Horizon? Cars like this one are obvious ports and not build from the ground up. This should not happen.
This and among other things, like really awful car sounds, wrong sounds, no wheel spacers etc. A lot of downgrades in this game.
Again, a shame. Because at its core, the game is actually a lot of fun.
You are missing the point. I am not upset at all. I am highlighting a mentality of elitism among people who have top of the line PC and say things like "I get 60fps at 4K so it's fine. Get a better PC" when the PCs of people struggling are covering the recommended requirements. These types of people that upgrade their GPU every year are literally facilitating developers skipping leg day on game optimization. Meanwhile, games are not even progressing significantly in visual fidelity anymore.
Look at PC2 from 6 years ago....Take out Ray Tracing from the equation and it looks significantly more detailed. This is trend is not okay.
