Whitewashed/Washed out colours?

Hey guys, non-HDR monitor player here.

My specs are:

CPU: i7-13700F
GPU: AMD RX6800

All settings on Ultra, except Ray Tracing is off, running 1440p, fps is about 80-90.

My question is, is anyone else's colours in-game kinda white-washed? Or feels too dark?

My brightness is on default 50%, cause in-game when I turned it up to 100, I still couldnt see the "dark FM" logo on the left and the in-game graphics looked terrible/way too bright.

Any fix to this?

I had this happen in another game but it was fixed by turning HDR options off.

I don’t think this game has an option to turn off HDR? Can anyone confirm?

yeah same here, no HDR setting i could find and its disabled in windows. loading screens and stuff look vivid but it definitely looks washed out while racing, i noticed this in early reviews from people playing the preview build and was hoping it wouldnt look like that on pc. same settings you are running. 5600x/7800xt on 3440x1440@144hz 70-80fps

edit: FSR is also disabled

Update: I've tried turning on "UI Increased Contrast" in Accessibility options. It seems to have helped but I'm not sure yet based on the races I'm doing.

Can anyone try this setting and let me know if it has helped them?

Nevermind, it doesn't help.

I've requested a refund. Game looks terrible and they couldn't even implement a damn setting allowing you to turn off HDR. Same case for Forza Motorsport 7 and the fact that they still haven't learned is ridiculous.

Gonna stick to Horizon for now.

Game needs a gamma adjustment - why the heck did Turn10 greenlight this hazy washed out look? Its awful - especially when you put it yup against GT and its beautiful vibrant colors

I ended up refunding and going back to Forza Motorsport 7.

More tracks, same graphics but wayyyy better framerate and more optimised, etc.

It looks great for me here's how:

1. download the HDR calibration software from the windows store, make sure you calibrate according to your monitor's specifications.
2. If you have an OLED the black levels should always be on the lowest (0) because OLED's can turn off invividual pixels, which means infinite contrast. THis is true both in calibration and ingame
3. Set the top brightness to the highest your tv/monitor can take, in my case it's an LG C1 so this will be 800 nits for both the fullscreen and 10% brightness. Make sure that the ingame setting is also set for 800.

That is all, the game should look great for you now without washed out colors.

If you don't have an HDR screen I can't help you as I refuse to play any game in SDR and so should you.

Turn off auto hdr if your on windows 11, also if you stream on obs set your capture properties accordingly!

COLOR : 20%, 15%, 0%, minus-30%.


ESP
CONTRAST : 0%, 15%, 100%, 25%, minus-10%.


DETAIL : 7%, 0%, minus-8%, 0%.


SHARPEN : 50%, 50%.


I hope enjoy my preset.
