The reason why I don't play or own ACC is because the GT3 class of racecar is the most boring class of street based racecar that has ever existed. When the old GT1 and GT2 monsters streaked by you knew it from the high pitched shriek of a Ferrari or Porsche and the base rumble of a Viper or Corvette. With GT3 it may as well be "please pass the Grey Poupon" in comparison. Even the LMPs had trouble running them down on the straights. Furthermore, if one car was slower than the other it got updates to close the gap. That's how we got the M3 GTR for example. In GT3 the leading car is BOPed to death, you can almost pick the race order from event to event by BOP.
That and I prefer to race street cars than even GT1 or GT2. Note ACC has no street cars. If I go to my local track or autocross I see people who took street cars and modded them to be track weapons. In Forza I can do the same thing (after dealing with the stupid XP system). In ACC or AC I can't. And in any other racing game I can think of I can't, barring the GT series...but I'm not the biggest fan of Nissan and those games aren't on PC anyway.
I do the same sometimes. For Games i dont like but hope that the game change and get better or like a white Knight will warn other players.^^
I prefer to play BeamNg if I want physics. Much more to do, and far more advanced than Assetto will ever be.
Forza is usually the perfect balance between a decent driving experience (I play with wheels exclusively) and a complete package for car enthusiast, who care more about the car part, more than the competition part.
This is of course, with previous Forzas. This current games needs at least a few years worth of fixes and content added before it can even come close to the Xbox 360 era Forzas, or its sister, Horizon 5.
asking this question is like saying "why are you playing valorant and not escape from tarkov?"
guaranteed if the half of you who hate this game went in knowing it was going to be a controller-first simcade you'd probably enjoy it more.
Before I answer your question, I play with Xbox gamepad and dont have any wheel yet. I bought and occasionally play Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2. Been tried RaceRoom, RFactor2 free weekend, and subbed a month of iRacing.
My experience? Knowing that those acclaimed "simulator" games are built with steering wheel in mind, I reckon that with only analog stick and rudimentary L2+R2 brake+throttle control I guess I got handicapped in terms of competitive racing gameplay.
Guess which simulator-game from those is the most "playable" of all? My take is Project Cars 2 and the bad news is you cant buy PC2 anymore on Steam because some developer-publisher related issue that a bit out of topic to explain here.
In training session on ACC, first 3 hours of play I spent majority of game time just to find which controller preset is "playable" and suitable for my style and also being competitive.
I read so many Steam guides, community webpages, watched many Youtube videos how to preset or "best" controller settings. I already saved dozens of preset on ACC game controls setting. I was constantly back and forth between oversteer and understeer, then change the preset one way or another.
Been owning ACC in almost two years Im only playing offline with AI because my safety rating and skill rating are not ready for the online lobby and honestly Im okay with that.
When this new Forza finally showed up on my GamePass I immediately played and have still playing. Almost none of the controller issue Ive experienced on ACC beforehand is exists on this FM, beside some inconsistent brake and throttle sensitivity.
Knowing the mostly negative reviews rating I read on homepage about hardware performance and lack of "simulation" Im fully understand their concerns and I also got some "shadow realm" bug from Super GT videos.
But in my personal concern, my priority is just a game that is "fun" with Xbox controller and can also be competitive with others wheel players. Ive played some fun lobbies and
can grasp the game learning curve.
After all. this matter of question is very subjective and broad.
Take my argument with massive grain of salt. Every individual has their own financial background, taste of gameplay and a bit of external concern like maybe most of their friends are playing one game over another that themselves and buying that game just for sake of friendships.
Sorry for the long read. I just cant oversimplify my answer lol.
Don't get me wrong, I like ACC a lot, but it's somewhat of a difference niche than FM.
