How to survive Crimson Ivy?

I walked into a room. Now I'm bound to two pieces of crimson Ivy I couldn't see (they were behind the door). I'm bound, so I can't run away. I hit it with my fists, but it just hits me back and heals the damage. I can't seem to throw ember potions at it because its on a wall. So it might be weak to fire, but it's not possible to hit it with fire. It says it basically resists everything else. There doesn't seem to be anyway to hit it with a torch. Is this character just dead?...
