At least, when the fps go down (which happens a lot), the fps don't lock at 30 like on AC4.
2 frame is not equal to triple buffer, it will lock your fps to 30.
But v-sync (1 frame) seems to have triple buffering.
Vsync on (double buffering) = no tearing, slower, FPS cap
Vsync on (triple buffering) = no tearing, good performance, but needs a lot of VRAM
The advantage is that it can help make the game smoother if your PC can not process the data in real time & helps reduce input lag that V-Sync can cause.
The disadvantage is that you use more VRAM as you are storing rendered frames ready to be shipped out to your monitor.
End of the day if your struggling to meet FPS expectations, I.E 60fps. Turn off V-Sync (as you wont see any screen tearing if FPS is below your refresh rate) and with that double and triple buffering becomes meaningless anyway.
