PC, GB and N64 versions are all different games which work, look and behave very differently from each other. And it is true that the Nintendo 64 version which Jon Tron reviewed is garbage and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful.

The Gameboy version is seems to be a decent game. It's a simple Zelda clone. I don't know if it has anything wrong with it. I haven't really played it.

The PC version single-player is a decent game which can be fun if you spend time to learn how it works. The multi-player in the PC version is great fun regardless of what you think of the single-player. The coop is great fun too with friends. But patching the PC (Windows/Linux/OSX) version with the 1.3 is absolutely necessary.

First episode in PC version can be a little bit off putting (especially the first two maps) but the episodes following it are more or less good. Here is some PC version gameplay from first episode...

You don't know JonTron? He is an internet comedian who reviews games and does other stuff. He usually on purpose reviews weird and obscure games and makes fun of them. His series "JonTron Show" started with Daikatana N64's review. Many of the Steam's negative reviews for PC version of Daikatana are because of his video. lol

This is a good game, all the negativity it gets comes from a buggy release and a bad marketing campaing (which wasn't Romero's idea). And yeah the first few levels are sort of slow. But if you can get past all that (patching included) there's a great game underneath all that. Especially the multiplayer which is fast and a verry refreshing breath of air compared to many of todays fps games.

It is only tolerable with two extra people, because if you play alone the a.i. will screw you over.
Two people will make this game playable and tolerable, without them the game is a mindless broken mess.

Agree it's a good game after you pass the first few levels. Lots of secrets everywhere you turn as well, keep your eyes open!

Never really understood why this game was killed by the critique?! Maybe DOOM & Quake was just to hard to live up to + being unfair in comparison anyway..
Don't matter much to me though... I like it, and I was happy to find it here on STEAM almost for free..
